ya'll i suppose would ork better.

Just saying, that the last Estern ront campaign was January 2010 and we won't have another until February 2011.  just think that is a little too long if "ya'll" are trying to keep variety. Don't get me wrong, i appreciate everything the CM's do, just would like to see a little more Eastern Front.

I don't think there's any grand conspiracy against eastern front setups... I just think the options are limited and the planeset full of giant holes. I mean, heck! We had the one setup way back where I-16s were attacking Ju-88s! How's that for crazy! Just sheer luck they could even catch the things, but they must have had alt or position (they nailed a few).

Sometimes they're fun, for sure.... But sometimes there's no making up for a lack of Pe-2, or Tu-2, or Yak-1, or LAG-3... Sometimes the immersion just isn't there, IMO.

I like Eastern Front setups and endevour to do them when I can. As for the plane set im never going to gripe if HTC adds more...of course it would be nice to see more Russian a/c in the set.

As far as Russian bombers, there are Lend-Lease possibilities with the B-25 and A-20, both of which were used in quantitiy by the VVS (more than 3500). Foreign a/c regiments and pilots were deliberately "toned down" if not outright ignored by the Soviets in much of their own historical writings. I wont get into all the reasons why but you can make your own conclusions. In any case it can give a somewhat skewered view of the role Lend-Lease a/c had especially in 1942-3 when Soviet industry was stretched to the breaking point. The USA alone supplied some 10,000 fighters to Russia in WW2, not counting bombers, and not counting types supplied by G.B and Canada; in all almost 1 in 5 was of foreign make.

Given that I would welcome the Pe-2 and others like the Yak-1 as much as anybody else. The more the better.

I-16? hmm, I recall they surprised us all by how well they did in that setup. Damn manueverable devils and accounted for a lot of kills. I think the high ROF of the 7.7s can really cause a lot of damage at short range.

I agree with Squire 100%, we have the planes available just avoiding Eastern Front for some reason.

Can a CM answer this simple question please, keep in mind I'm not bein a pain just want an answer, why is it that we went a whole year without an Eastern Front setup?

As an FSO Admin CM, my personal opinion is the lack of terrains. The only terrains currently listed are FinRus and Hungary which are both just a drop in the bucket when it comes to the vastness of the Russian Front.

We are also hampered by the plane set. The German/Axis Plane set is nearly filled in while the Russlan/Allied Plane set is severely lacking pre-1943. Lend Lease Aircraft help fill the void, but IMO it is not enough.

That will change in the coming months and into 2011, and as soon as we get some I will start writing them.

My 2 cents...
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

If by the invasion of Finland your referring to the Winter War 1939-1940... Lend Lease Aircraft did not exist yet.

One issue that bugs me for FinRus is the lack of 109E-7, the lack of Ju-87Bs, the lack of He-111s, and the lack of Ju52s.

While the LW planeset is definitely more flushed out than the VVS planeset, it still has some glaring holes, especially for late 1941 and early 1942 setups.

Sadly we haven't gotten the He-111 in how many years? We'll never get it.

Well, not only that but we've lost 90% of the jabo force (no bombs on E-4, bombs removed on F-4!) so you HAVE to put the 110C in there or put in 190A5 as a sub for 190F3 or something....

That puts more emphasis on level bombing --- which brings us back to having only the Ju-88A-4. Don't get me wrong, it's the right time frame for this plane, it's just over-saddled with jobs and tasks and some variety would be nice.

I prefer Pacific over all others.  Both early and late designs are usually alot of fun.

Back in early Aug when I had an Admin CM depart unexpectedly and I saddled myself with having to do the Sept. FSO I asked specifically about Hungary and Funrus terrains. Skuzzy replied a day later on Aug. 10th that one was crashing when he tried to load it. Due to several issues I had to scrap my design and scramble for something else, twice.

Believe it or not we do try to rotate between theaters of operations. Sometimes it just does not work out.

Also, for what it is worth Perdue when you word things as you did here...

LOL So we go 13 months without an Easter Front Setup. That is pathetic.
You will not get much of an answer. This is a perfect example. Someone thinks the CM's are just screwing up and clueless, well maybe me sometimes. Yet behind the scenes (as I pointed out above) the CM's are actually trying to do just what the players want. Calling their efforts pathetic will get you no where fast, especially with me because I know how much time and effort my FSO team puts in.
