Networking Questions
« on: September 07, 2001, 08:04:00 PM »
Ok here's the deal.
I have DSL hooked up to my machine, problem is I have 2 roommates that want there machines hooked up to DSL too.  I have a internal intel 2100 dsl modem. I really dont want to spend a ton of cash on a cisco external modem right now, but if needed I will.
Could I use my machine as a server and from there go to the other two machines using a dsl router?  Is it hard to setup the settings if I am able to connect the three this way?
Im running Win98 and the others have win98 and WinMe.
My machine is the best out of the 3 so thats the reason mine would be the server and
In the future I could throw a machine together just to act as the server.
I have all the materials that I need to do all the networking but was looking for some advice and tips on having everything run smooth.
I am the only gamer out of the 3 and the other 2 will mostly be web surfing and downloading MP3.
Any info and advice any of you could give would be great.

www.winroute.com

Best solution I can suggest, stable genuine routing with some other nifty features. Its also light on resource requirements. It supports internal DSL modems quite happily (I run it with a Nokie Ni200).

I think with your configuration there is a good chance you could get ICSS (internet connection shareing) up and running.

If you decide to try it you may find this site helpful.
