I took control once of a cv a couple of weeks ago. had it defending out port with 2 eny cv's near by and an enemy base 1 1/2 sectors away. we probably had about 20 to 30 planes up in the air attacking the port with an equal number of planes up in the air defending. I stayed in the maned guns controlling the cv and stopped counting after 20 friendly planes went into the water as I moved the cv our of harm's way. I kept control of it for over 1/2 an hour 'till we sank the two eny cv's. about 2 min later I heard on the radio that an a20 got thru and was about to hit the cv at the time, i had at least 10 planes on the deck taking off so i delayed turning until the last was airborn, some bombs from the a20 hit the cv (it had been damaged before i took control also) with a single p38 finishing the cv a couple of min later.
I had no less than 3 guys tell me what a moron I was and how I should never take control of a cv again. Well they were not there with me to see how I had actually saved the cv many times before by turning it just in time and how I never upped once while in control. sometimes when people take control they actually do take care of the cv, but it cannot be saved every time. I say this because I sink lots of cvs every month.
anyway you dont want the cv sunk, well take control of it, 2 of the guys that yelled at me had a higher rank than me and they could have easily taken control of it, but they didnt. you dont have enough rank, then up a plane and stay above the cv, it's not hard to tell which direction the bombers will be coming from or how long it will take. Look at the map and pay attention to the nearest bases with ords still up, that's where they bombers will be coming from.
cv gets sunk, it's everybody's fault, not just the captain. so if a bonehead is afk, why werent you attacking the bombers at least 2 min before they hit the cv?
