I've been loyal to Asus over the years, seeing as almost every time I've strayed I got burned. This includes buying around 100 motherboards over a 9 year span at my old job doing IT for a pharmaceutical company. Other brands had a much higher failure rate over the years than the Asus ones, the vast majority of which were still going strong (if the computer wasn't upgraded or replaced before then) when I left that job.
Oh and because someone said to avoid the cheap Asus motherboards, all of them were cheap that I purchased at my old job. As in ~$100 as opposed to the ~$200 ones I've bought for my home system over the years.
I'm typing this on a computer using an Asus Commando motherboard that shipped on March 23rd 2007 (for $206.99) that has been flawless. (I'm looking at the Newegg receipt right now, typed in the number, and its still listed although discontinued:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131149 .) I'm a habitual upgrader, so for me to be using the same motherboard 3.5 years later is seriously unusual.
I'm not vocal about many brands of any kind, but Asus has earned my loyalty over the years. I do hear that their customer service is bad, but I can't speak from experience because I've never had to use it.
