Update on v1.03 features & functions
« on: May 17, 2000, 07:18:00 PM »
Thanks Pyro....

That should help clarify some confusion.

The new features and functionality look fabulous for potential scenario building in the future.

Maybe even usable in an HA?

Regards,
Badger

If you shoot down a Hurricane with a Ta 152, you will not earn much because that is expected. However, if you shoot down a Ta 152 with a Hurricane, you earn a lot a points. We will be talking more about the implementation of this system as we get closer to it.

Every plane will have a cost and score multiplier associated with it. While the normal arena plane set will cost nothing, special planes will have a price required to fly them. If you lose one of these planes, you will lose the points you spent on it. The score multiplier will effect how you accumulate points based on the plane that flying vs. the plane you shoot down. I have some serious concerns about this.  Most of them are voiced by myself and others in this thread:  http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/Forum1/HTML/003340.html

Since this is, in fact, an unfortunate reality, I have a question of utmost importence.

WHY???

This is bad.  This will create a major runstang mentality.  I can already tell you that if I manage to make it to these "uber rides" (take MASSIVE amounts of luck for me I think) that I will run like hell screaming for mommy the whole way if I end up in a disadvantaged position.

Now for the more mundane questions.
We noticed that killshooter was turned OFF in the MA the other night.  What is to stop a countryman from killing someone in an uberplane to get the massive points for killing a Ta152 with a tiffie?  Will we loose our hard earned rides to a jealous, greedy country man if killshooter remains off?

What planes in the current set, if any, are going to be affected by this when it's implemented?  Or does this only apply to future birds that will come, like ones that dinnae combat or saw very limited combat at the very end of the war?

Cave-

I see your concerns, but...

Anytime someone fragged in a community I have been a part of, well... let's just say they didn't accumulate any streaks (except perhaps in their shorts).   That said, killshooter should remain on.

I think this is worth a try. How else would you ever see some of the exotic birds without totally upsetting game play? It seems a fair compromise. Yes, I totally dread Hristo's 262, or SnakeEyes F8F, but the arena at least won't be filled with them.

I was initially against this idea too, but at least now I see there will be ways to lose the rides. At least now these uber rides will be a threat, but there is also the chance that the threat will be diminished as anyone earning one will fight dearly to keep it. Do you take that 262 against the buff? Is it worth the risk? Furball that F8F? Maybe, maybe not.

Why is this bad? Just tell me, why is this bad? We can already do it now, how would the new system make it worser? But nobody forces you to run away if you get in toejamty position, you still can die as you like in new system.

As a good share of fliers have come over from AW3, this is old hat, but I like the kill shooter OFF option. It prevents people from cutting you off to swipe a kill and that "shooting over the shoulder" trick alotta people pull.

In AW3 if ya kill X amount of friendlies, ya lose your ammo for 24 hours, ya can still fly, ya just can't KILL nuthin.
Most people in that instance grab goonies.

At any rate it requires improved SA, as you have to be aware of freindlies as well as enemas, and check your fire accordingly.

We want more realism, well in R/L™ they had non kill shooter either, and a pilot that fragged his team was in serious trouble.
