Increased Pingtimes DSL, (Atlanta Area)
« on: October 08, 2010, 01:02:22 PM »
Anyone in GA.or Southeast notice more LAG during primetime? 7 to 11 PM,  Started bout 3 weeks ago! I'm on ATT 6.0Mb, DSL and used to have 33 to 34 ms pings during this time! and Ping Blotter said It would be 24ms,  Now Pings are 80 to 85ms! But they go back to 33 around 12:00PM, Watching a plane fly bye ya,then getting hit! and watching a plane fly thru a stream of 4, 20mm at 200 out from a CHOG can get dishearting!  I guess with the kick off of the U-Vearse stuff from ATT, It  has ruined my life just like the  drugs and akyhol did!  lol

It's not your ping that is the problem.  There is no way you could notice a difference in AH between 30ms and 80ms unless you have the best eyes/senses ever.  That means data is traveling between you and the HTC servers under 1/10th of a second, for you it's likely an average of about 1/20th (50ms) of a second (anywhere from 30-80ms).  The problem would likely be the other players with higher ping in the 250ms+ range not seeing what you see. They're slightly behind your image so when they fire on their end and hit you you see the merge as over but to them they are still 100ft from merging and hit you so your end has to acknowledge that, even if it means being hit after the merge (that they still haven't finished).

Also, you answered you're own problem, "lag" during "prime-time".  That's like saying "anyone notice there's a lot of traffic (lag) in NYC during Rush-Hour (prime-time)?"  So yes, there will be extra lag but it's not on your end unless your low ping is simply disguising your high-packet loss.
We just need a better internet structure throughout the world is all. :)

Well, I'm not ping junky,  only when something funny's going on! and something funny is going on for me to notice it,  seems i do have more than what i use to have , as far as packet loss on the return loop.  as far as my eye's go? rather not get in to that one, but I'm close enough to see a plane fly thru a hail of lead with no sparkles, and fly away,  ehh,   never mind, I'll figure it out,   Oh, Yea.  150ms? (really?)  damn, thats ruff  (UK?)

270 average here (Adelaide, South Australia)..... fly WW1 mostly which reduces the impact, but on a bad night I still get shot from behind by nme a/c going past on the merge. Same thing happens to them if I attack first, but my first is always later than their first, unless they're asleep or already half dead.
