Gents:

Recently suffered a complete hardrive failure, need to start from scratch. Was using the original driver shipped with my:

Leadtek Winfast GeForce Rev. B 32meg DDR (Original GeForce Card...)

I see many references to the "best" drivers for the newer "MX", "GeForce 2", "GeForce 3" etc. cards....can anyone steer me to the best driver for the "original" (GeForce 1?) cards?

It depends on what CPU you have.

If it's a P3 or Celeron I'd go with 7.58s or 7.78s. If it's an Athlon or P4 the 12.41s are good overall. (The new 21.81s are just too new, though beta 14 supposedly fixed all issues with them. You could try them, but personally I'd wait to see how they work with AH.)

Depending on your MB (chipset - VIA?) make sure you install the 4 in 1s and enable Ultra DMA mode on your new HD. I believe the 4.33s are the newest out and they are at www.viahardware.com.

If it's Intel they occasionally have improved drivers over those included in windows.

The new detonator 4's 21.81's work fine with AH for me on a powercolor GF2 MX 32mbh

P3 550e
Asus P3V4X
Via chipset
512m ram
GeForce 256 Leadtek Winfast

I've d-loaded the Via 4.33's, NVidia 7.58, 7.78 and 21.81's.

I presume I load the Via 4.33's FIRST, then play with the video drivers?

Any other suggestions regarding re-loading the new hard drive appreciated!

yeah i'd install the VIA's first. I get about a 25% increase in FPS with the 21.81's and Beta 14 on a :

Duron 800@1ghz
512mb ram
gf2 mx 32mb (cheapy)

(oh yeah VIA 4.32's)
