Pilot Head Position In Typhoon

Please check the max head position. It seems excessive.

Thanks I forgot that was posted already. The P-51D had a similar range after a recent update and it was determined to be too much travel and subsequently reduced. I find it hard to believe that you can actually move your head completely above the headrest in a Typhoon but you can't even get your eyes over it in a Tempest.

I agree FLS it is excessive.

I guess everyone else cannot see that.  Dr_Death it was never that high even after the re-model.

Unless the canopy is open and the pilot is standing on his seat would it seem realistic.

Yep, flew it again last night as it has been a few weeks and stuck my head up. Have to agree with you on this one. Definately was standing up on the seat.  :salute

I don't think that it's a dead horse.
Here is another screenshot that I believe shows the excessive travel. (sorry for the large size, but it gives a better indication of actual view)

Notice that my eyes are located in the middle of the screen, above the top canopy bar at the text "Auto take off enabled."

Here is Tiffie photo. The pilot could not get his eyes above the top canopy bar with the canopy closed.

What I was refering to being a dead horse was this is the third or fourth thread in the last 3-4 months advising of the view out of the Typhoon.  :salute

How is that 'seeing over the top canopy bar'?  You still can't see the nose of the plane.  The only reason you can see the trees ahead is because they are up on a hill.

Also if you look at the canopy 'bubble', once slid closed, it would allow the pilot to have a couple of extra inches to raise his head position.  Personally, I think the adjustments are accurate (based on that picture).

Tigger did you compare the rear views? The headrest in both cases goes nearly to the canopy but in the Typhoon you can see completely over it. Given that the Tempest and Typhoon have the same cockpit and canopy do you think the Tempest should have more head travel to match the Typhoon?

According to that photo of the Typhoon, the headrest is almost non-existant.  Perhaps the Tempest had a higher headrest?  Dig up a picture of a Tempest and we can see...

The headrest is up to the canopy in that photo.

the tempy and the tiff used to have the same cockpit, but then HTC remodeled the inside of the tiff and not the tempy, i have always been able to have my head position set to look over the top bar, even BEFORE the mod of the tiff. just thought i would throw that in there :)
