I noticed it right away, and have adapted and accepted it. Did most WWII airbases have nice black asphalt and bright white paint to mark the runways? Things are fine the way they are now.
I find my self having to zoom in most times to see if a building is up or down or there at all and landing on the runways is fine when I'm up close but depending on angle of approach and distance I also find myself zooming in to see it better definition too.
Not sure how "accurate" it is, but giving the town buildings red roofs (clay shingles?) that blew apart when the building was destroyed would likely make it much, much easier to discern.
