Updated Saitek x36 Profile Available for Download

While I have always been pleased to send out a copy of my Saitek x 36 profile to those who have asked for it I decided to send along a copy to Pyro to place on the download page for anyone to use.

This profile has been updated to reflect the latest version. I experimented with the placement of the commands for quite some time for ease of use, and to avoid those costly mistakes of hitting the wrong button at the wrong time.

There is a read me file that explains the reason for the placement of certain commands, and why other commands were moved after online flight experiences.

I hope it will enhance your enjoyment of this very fine product. Feel free to use it as a base and make your own adjustments.

My profile is currently set up so the rudder flapper on the throttle is a flap up or down command as I have rudder pedals on the floor.

Some of you have indicated that you would like to use the rudder flapper on the throttle for your rudder commands, because you don't have stand alone rudders.

I would suggest that you simply remove the commands for the upper wheel on the throttle that are currently programmed for the gear one way and the brakes the other way. These can be easily used on the keyboard as they aren't in flight combat commands such as trim or wep etc.

Simply replace the commands for brakes and wheels with the flap up and flap down commands. This way when you roll the wheel right and then back to center it should drop the flaps one notch each time you roll it. The other way would bring them up a notch. Leave the deadband I programmed into that wheel just as it is.

Sounds hard, but it's quite easy.

Finally got my Saitek X36 system yesterday.

Being a stubborn and curious lad, I decided to program my own profile to see how it's done.

I wanted to use the rotary dials for trim. That's what they're meant for, right?    

I quickly changed my mind, and marginally modified RangerBob's profile.

Say, I can't see how I'll get used to that rudders rocker. I'm glad I have rudder pedals, but WB doesn't recognize them    , so I have to use the rudders rocker in WB.

I don't like its position. At full throttle, the wrist is bent, and after a while it becomes very awkward and a causes a little pain, for unfortunately I have carpal tunnel syndrome.

I highly recommend the use the rudder pedals.

I suggest we all start pestering Saitek for support of external rudders... as suggested by Ron Hunt. See this URL:

Of course we don't need it for AH, but there are many sims on the market that don't support multiple controllers...
