This is another franchise getting resurrected by holyweird and it's gonna bomb like the A-team.

F14s were hot as hell, and I think latest crop of 5th and 4.5 generation fighters in the USAF and USN are a bit too Germanic (in ww2 sense).  They're not beautiful and elegant but they're brutal in efficiency. Think of the Fw-190A,  its not sexy and elegant but they  shot down lots of beautiful and elegant spits (until the arrival of clipped wing spitfire XIIs )

Just going to ruin another classic. Maverick's successor will probably be Justin Beiber or some crap. If he's stuck on the idea, just make another Iron Eagle movie. There's like ten of those and they already suck.
