What we don't have are Aussie Beaufighters!  New Guiniea, Rabaul, Bismarck Sea, all had the Aussie Beaus there.  Don't even get me started on the CBI Beaus!

Subtle enough hint ya think? :)

We just don't need Beaufighters until we have more targets for them to attack.

They are a waste of time to develop and take the spot of plane(s) more desperately needed, which contributed to the war effort in a vastly greater level(s).   Like say, I dunno, the TDB Devastator for example.

I've been anxiously waiting for a '42/'43 New Guinea scenario for a couple years now, as well as Rabaul.

Hrm.. what about early Soviet encounters? The Betty model 11 is pretty close overall to the G3M2/M3 that saw extensive use the first year of the war, give or take. Might have something with I-16s, maybe, trying to attack the Betty in a 1939 environment?

Flamability of the Betty countered by the speed of the craft and the limiting of the I-16s to MGs only, might be worth considering (also, A6M2s vs I-16s is an interest game matchup)

My first thought was Guadalcanal, we have the planes for it.

G4M1-11
A6M2 (I believe there were also some A6M3's in service at Rabaul at the time as well which we unfortunately don't have yet)
D3A
B5N

F4F-4
SBD
TBM
P-39D

This one would be fun. Love the PTO setups  :aok

An early New Guinea scenario is what I've been hoping for since the Betty. Although a scenario named "Cactus" would be neat too. :)

I believe we did it previously in July 2004. A better planeset does exist now!  :)

Yep been done before, I walked on for a frame and flew F4F's out of Henderson.  If memory serves we had to sub skinned JU-88's for the axis bombers which just killed the immersion for me (although necessary with the tools available at the time.)

Ideally I'd like to see the A6M's get a face lift here soon too.

We have a Betty (at least, it's coming). This opens up some new territory on early and mid PTO scenarios. EDIT: Had an idea in another thread. Yamamoto was shot down in a G4M1-11.... Brings up interesting possibilities, no?

Hi Krusty,

A "Find Yamamoto" event would be,to say the least, exotic... One arena filled with P-38's searching frantically for 3 Bettys and his escorts... LOL!

Cheers,

That would be horribly boring and no fun for the Japanese side...

No, I was thinking more along something inspired by it. Such as an offensive push by the japanese in frame 1 along some fictional (or real?) islands... Then in frame 2 you have several attacks/defenses as you normally would find, but that a side-goal would be for hunting down and finding a flight of 3 betty bombers with light escorts. You would have to devote resources meaning you lessen the impact you can do elsewhere, but IF found and shot down (maybe make a rule no more than 1 squad can engage at a time? others have to shadow it?) it would change Frame 3. If Yamamoto is shot down in Frame 2, then the allies go offensive in frame 3, but if Yamamoto gets through alive the Japanese are on the push in frame 3. I don't know off the top of my head about a 4th frame just yet.

This way there would be that element of Yamamoto's being shot down, but it wouldn't be the only thing. It would change the event, but NOT end the event or pre-determine the event.

That's what I had in mind, or something like that.
