AvA arena.
« on: October 20, 2010, 11:10:20 AM »
Went to the AvA arena last night for the first time it was great fun!  If your looking for a change of pace or a challenge you should try it out.  With no icons it gets very intense and even with just a few players (at one time there was only 7) there is still plenty of fast action the airfields were so close toghether!!!   I give it two thumbs up!!!!
If you find yourself in a fair fight your tactics suck!

AvA is a fun place to fly, really great place to sharpen your SA unlike the Arcade mode LW arenas

I STill get target fixation. i get saddled up, am tickling the con, hoping he'll make a mistake.....multiple warnings from friendlies about my impending doom......but the fight to me is so intense, i don't actually register the warnings all the time......hell.....i've even ducked a couple fo times on close passes with some enemy aircraft.

Yes, AvA is a fun fun place. I remember the day the MA's were down, so EVERYone was in there. So much fun. Course, icons were on then. Wonder what it'd be like now... :devil

I'm a total convert.  I rarely venture into the MAs now.  The first two times with no icons was tough.  Now I'm addicted. :aok

Seems like I have some skills when I fly in the AvA arena...When I am actually paying attention. Does that mean the enemy pilots are just not looking for me? Hmm...Makes me wonder if I could have cut it in the real war if I was there. I really like the lack of enemy Icons. When I read historical accounts of WWII, it seems like the pilots recall getting "jumped" or being clueless as to who was who until they got really close. Sometimes they even gave chase to friendlies until they could identify them as a non-threat. I even saw a show where a ponie pilot thought he was fighting one 190, only to find out later that there were actually two of them. They were attacking in turn and using the sun to mask their maneuvers. I thought the same thing during one sortie last night...only to get waxed by the second con that had been there the whole time. GREAT STUFF!!!  :rock
This is a test

Happened to me last night - Was tangled with DanielTS and Dicho - made a high scissor on one 109 and caught him as he was going vertical (Daniel). Shot him down, rolled over the top to find the other 109 coming around (Dicho). I lost one and saw the other as a scissored over. Shot Dicho down, too... <S>.

Tonight in the AvA, a defeated enemy gets escorted home.  Great arena.

Wtg, unidentified player, for the wonderful display of sportsmanship that seems so lacking in a lot of games.
