Twin river map
« on: October 22, 2010, 02:16:59 AM »
Hello AvA <<S>>

Can something be done to distinguish the "river" from the land.  It looks the same.  I sunk my GV in it so many times yesterday while heading for the bridges.  My puter ain't great and I don't max out my graphics so maybe it's my end but the river should at least be a different colour, erm... Blue maybe??
Still a great map tho'. just a small gripe on my part.

it is your video settings....  you have to change the water settings.  go to preferances, then graphics, advanced tab and click the water detail box

I learned something here.  I thought you had to have the terrain detail turned on to have detail water, but I tried it and only water reflections need to have terrain details turned on first.

Has this always been the case?  Turning on water detail without the terrain detail makes a big difference in performance on my cpu.   :salute For the question and a very helpful answer.

Klam,
I'm running a system that can barely handle this game at low settings.

What I've learned is that you need to follow the concrete, and they will eventualy lead to a bridge.

Use the "Z" button and zoom in on the places you want to go. This helps me set a route to the destination.

Pay special attention to the gun rotation numbers in the top left.

I tend to watch my clipboard map to make sure I'm headed in the right direction.

Once you get across the bridge, be ruthless. Move fast and set up a nice ambush spot.

Shut down and start shelling. Hold the beach-head at all costs.

If you hear a whistling noise, don't look up.

I was doing some testing yesterday and I accidentally had detailed water setting turned off, makes a huge difference.

Without that all you see is a slightly different color.

Of course having local water reflection on makes it look much nicer if your system can handle it, but just detailed water setting on works.

When I'm by the water's edge, whether in the water in a PT boat/LVT, or on land in a GV, I shoot one of the machine guns in front of me. This way you can tell by the hit sprites where the land ends and the water begins. The upside is you can keep your graphics settings as is, and the downside is the tracers can give away you position.
