Man this is unreal. I forgot I had a spare MSFFB2 stick from way back. Found and plugged it in, feeling good that it would not give me problems. 2 flights later and the "Y" lost its resistance. I'm at a loss for what's causing this. The other night I also lost resistance in the "X" axis, yet the "Y" axis was fine.

I may purchase a X52 pro, since it does not have FFB, maybe it will not give me problems. I just don't care to spend more money. Purchased a new VC and TrackIR 5 and theres a conflict between them.

Between the stick losing axis resistance and TrackIR 5 conflict; I'm concerned greater powers do not want me in the AH world.  :headscratch:

That confirms it is not a hardware fault then, since we have the same problem with at least three separate sticks. I believe it's a bug in AH. Will try to consistently reproduce it, perhaps there is a common circumstance.

No ground I don't think it's a POT issue.  He's losing FF, not the axis itself.

A lot of these FF sticks will shut down a motor if it gets too hot, and it's possible for one motor to get shut down but not the other.  Once you quit using it and go play with settings it has had time to cool off and start working again.

I can't really find a correlation between a system issue and losing FF on just one axis, so that leads me to think that something is wrong with the stick itself... either a loose connection or a failing motor (either of which can cause it to get hot.. or even simple just stop working for a bit).

Simply doesn't happen with a sidewinder regards the pots or the motors, the only bit that breaks through wear and tear are the hats or buttons. They are solid as a rock.

Have you installed the software that came with the stick? I just plug mine in without installing the software and it works. Also what OS are you guys using? I've had no problems on vista and windows 7.

I've tried with and without the software installed.

I've found something thats vastly improved the problem of losing resistance on an axis. I set the deadband and damping back to the default settings. I've only lost resistance once, in approx. 2+ hours of flight. Before going to default settings, I was losing an axis within 10 minutes of flight.

Do you have scaling enabled by any chance? The reason I ask is after the 'fix' my sidewinder was acting a little fruity with uneven pull no matter how I tried scaling it. Disabling the scaling returned my stick to its old feel with only minor readjustments needed in the trim on FF.

Imo you don't need the scaling its smooth and progressive without it, the only thing I needed to adjust was the trim force. Give it a try.

Nrshida give it a go as well mate.

i own 3 Microsoft FF2, hands down, i cant fly with another stick, so i got 2 other spare sticks for the next 20 years

ok, got the same Problem, but i got also a workaround!

Sometimes you start ah, all fine, sometimes you loose just X of Y Force!??! what now?

My Workaround-> open pref -> open forcefeedback -> DISABLE the overall FF checkmark and click Apply!

close this subwindow, open it again and checkmark Forcefeedback and click ok!!

Voila, all forces back up, stick works fine!  :salute
