I use AVG free...I was prompted to upgrade to the new version..There is now a check box for full screen game mode which pfffft...I don't think does anything but hey I have no Idea....I have been getting major stutters ingame over the last few days...I thought it was due to being in a place with may players but it found that it is happening other times too...my frames (which seem lower than normal) are sitting around 40-50....good times 60...but then as I get close to anything frames drop dramatically to about 12  and jump about upto 30 ..down to 9 ...you get the picture.....I have tried turning off detail,and it really didn't seem to make that much of an impact..

I can't find how to disable this new version...game booster says it is shutting it down but there is still something running (within AVG)  has anybody else noticed this and found a way to shut it down completely.

The only way to shut it down is to remove it from the computer and that will not undo the damage completely.  AVG has gotten really ugly with the last few versions.  It is like they are trying to outdo Norton for the award of "Most likely to be named a virus" program.

Thought that might be the case...I have noticed it over the last few myself...this one though totally blows. I have...had(it has gone now) 4 processes running 2 of which would not allow termination and 2 that would terminate but turn back on...When I saw this I just biffed it...Sounds like I need to do a thorough clean out though.

You have to make sure that the processes for AVG are also shut down manually.  Like ZoneAlarm, disabling it the normal way really doesn't disable it.  Also, like ZoneAlarm AVG is best uninstalled from your computer.
