Yum...popcorn is good....but this + popcorn is much better!  The HTC CON was an audition for a GEICO commercial..."welcome to planet earth"

Uptown Creations has a nice ring to it  :lol

Those are good points about the time it takes to model real aircraft as opposed to sci-fi. As far as the con ships goes i guess it would be a good change of pace for the staff at HTC and the attendees of the con. I can buy that.

I'm just voicing an opinion and thinking out loud here. There shouldn't be any reason to think i'm untight, stressed or out of my mind. jeez guys.

you're an uptight meanie poopiehead :D

I love the once a year change of pace.  It makes me laugh hysterically

Every year..... same complaints.

It only happens once a year. You should be enjoying it. If not just stay off for one day.

It's SPECIAL for the folks who could and did make the Con.

Chill out uptown.  It's one night a year for a very special event.  If you are so disturbed by it then let me make a suggestion: Next year on that one special Saturday of 2011, just take you family out to dinner.  Maybe a movie.....or if your cheap stay home and read a book...whatever.  Skip AH for the evening.  Spare yourself the trouble.  Or just come to MidWar :)

It takes untold hours to accurately model a WWII era airplane and its ord.  To make a CLAW takes a fraction of that.  You should be thankful that they don't waste a bunch of time coming up with an aircraft that only shows up once a year.  That way they have more time to spend on things like the Betty.

Adding a real plane is not equivalent to adding a con plane .  You're a couple orders of magnitude off on the difference in man hours involved.  If planes could be created at the same rate we implemented these space ships, we would have had a massive complete plane set in the first year.  It would be like me advising a player to buy a high end video card instead of an ice cream cone, they are not close to equivalent.  We didn't even build the space ship shapes, we spent like $20 for them.  Regardless, the goal was to have irreverent fun for a few hours and that mission was accomplished.

WW2 realism is in the AVA, scenarios, etc not the main arenas. Modeling an imaginary spaceship is a lot easier than accurately modeling an actual aircraft. An evil con mission with an early war bomber or middle of the pack fighter wouldn't be very evil. It's a game, it's for fun, it's fun for HTC, it's a treat for those who go to the con. You want a new aircraft introduced? How about the "Betty"?  If you're old enough to be grouchy you're old enough to be open minded.  :old:

I thought it was cool, and a different kind of fun for awhile.

Flew to the mothership to check it out, engaged a claw, got shot down, laughed a bit.

Chose an area they were not flying in, had some fun.

Flew back to the mothership, had some fun.

Went to another area they were not flying, hunted some bombers.

You guys complaining, you know you didn't have to fly near them don't ya?
Guys complaining about time wasted (when actually there was very little), think of it as a vacation for HTC staff, should they work for you then also?

Lighten up fellas, it's all good  :salute
