Graphics card help?!?
« on: October 25, 2010, 11:10:12 PM »
Hey guys, I'm really want to buy a new graphic card and I font know what I want. I want something that can run all the high res. stuff and between the range of 100-200$ price range. I have a 4350 ATI radeon HD and I can't find my power supply level so I can't find out if I can run a better card. :airplane:

You're looking for something like this on the side of the power supply.

Actually you have a HP Pavilion 9220.  According to this you have a 300W power supply which will require to be replace in order to run any type of video card upgrade (in a nut shell).

I just purchased a Nvidia GTS 450 for about $130.  Considered a mid-range card.  Requires a 400W power supply.  So figure in you'll need to spend at least $50-$60 on a decent quality power supply in addition to whatever your video card purchase is.  Never, ever buy a cheap power supply.  It feeds power to your entire system and if it fails, it can take the whole computer with it.

Yeah, so a 5770 is about $170 at Best Buy, a power supply is about $60-$90 at Best Buy, plus $30-$50 or more for Best Buy to put it all in for you.

You'll have to get a new power supply because if you don't, your computer will probably shut down on you when you start gaming.
