« on: October 28, 2010, 12:03:28 PM »
Just wondering if anyone is pro, con, to putting in some clouds that actually made you fly with the instruments.

Not talking about the see thru stuff they have now......good old fasion zero-zero type stuff

And do you think HTC would ever do it?

Just move your view down so that all you see is the instrument panel.   :D

When we get radar-guided missles, then we can start talking about IFR weather.  Until then, we're fine.  The AvA and SEA special events have clouds and such that can make life difficult now and then...perhaps the maps in the other Mains could use clouds once in a while.

The previous version of the AH clouds would result in grey-out conditions which I LOVED (meaning you had to fly instruments).  You could actually hide in the clouds.  Now - these 'sheets' of clouds you just experience a fraction of greying out which makes me go 'why bother' other than to look pretty....

I still remember puttering through one of the clouds one afternoon when I suddenly came across a B-17 that was also cruising through the clouds, that one woke me up, I had to make some hasty maneuvers to avoid colliding.

Would be a cool addition as long as the clouds aren't like the ones on smpizza that make you lag.

Probably not. AH is not designed to be a "flight simulator". It is designed as a "combat simulator". While heavy clouds, storm fronts, etc., might be entertaining for flight sim nuts.....they would do vary little for the combat simmers.

Come to think of it....I could be wrong!! :O Since I started playing again a couple of weeks ago, I have notice that very few folks actually try to fight. Perhaps the cloud/weather stuff would be a good idea. :x :x

The old clouds were so much better & immersive.  That's one of the things I'll never understand why they dumbed down.

Probably to make the game more low-end computer friendly.. Until I upgraded, I would stay away from large hoardes due to lag/stuttering. :salute

Which of the older versions had the old clouds?
I also liked them. Made for interesting fights.
