CH Pro Pedals USB problem
« on: July 08, 2000, 12:41:00 AM »
I'm sure I have seen it somewhere, but can't find it.

I got my CH Pro Pedals USB, but I'm still waiting for my Saitek X36, so I'm using them with my SideWinder 3D Pro (gameport). Everything works fine. Apart from my now screwed up gunnery and ACM skills, of course.

Except that everytime I boot Win98SE, my rudders don't work in the control panel. I have to uninstall the CH Pro Pedals USB from the Devices manager, and refresh it so that the pedals are installed again. Then they work again.

Any suggestion?  Couldn't find anything specific on the CH site.

Leaving the computer running at all times is not an option: I'm using Win98SE only for AH and WB. Otherwise I use Win2000.

I've got the same problem
Hope someone identifies a fix.
Do you have a VIA chipset too?
I dl'd the MS USB fix for VIA Chipsets, but no joy on Win98SE seeing my CH Pro Rudder on start up. I just dunno.
Have ya ever had your Rudder kick out in the middle of a flight in AH? I have, then I have to do the remove/refresh thingie in System manager, watch for it to screw your rudder calib too.

Nope, Intel BX440 chipset here (ABit BX6 rev. 2 motherboard).

Win2000 has no problem detecting the CH Pro Pedals USB. They work fine everytime I boot Win2k.

Win98SE is another matter.

Apart from that, I have no problem with my pedals. They work fine once I re-install them in Win98SE.

Check the "Advanced" tab on the "Game Controllers" control panel.  It is possible that the Controller ID's are getting reassigned each time you start the computer.  I know I have this problem with my USB steering wheel.

The only thing I am aware of with the CH USB Pedals is that each time you boot, or even if you use a power management scheme, you need to simply push  the pedals all the way right and left once. This will reset them and reset the calibration. You don't need to go into the calibration section, just do it right from the desk top after a reboot or repower.

Doesn't work.

What frustrates me, is that they work fine under Win2000.

Everytime I must either uninstall and reinstall them, or unplug them and plug them back in.

And no, the ID is not reassigned on boot.

I got my Saitek X36 Flight system. So per the Saitek Help web site's instructions I uninstalled my current controllers, installed full DirectX 7.0a, installed the Saitek software, then reinstalled the CH pedals.

I still have the problem. Damn!

I wish Saitek made rudder pedals.

Have x36 and used chpro pedals for awhile under SE with no problems.... ASUS motherboard.... All USB .... sometimes I had a problem where my epson USB printer would disappear.... It appears that it is slot snesitive (I use a USB Hub) try plugging the pedals into a different USB slot...
