AH History: Plane Poll 2007
« on: October 29, 2010, 08:48:32 PM »
Some of you may only barely remember, many haven't been here back then.
For those wondering about how the last poll went (and to prevent nekrobumps), this is how it went:

The contestants:

Brewster Buffalo
A-26
B-25
G.55
He 111
" A Japanese fighter"
Me 410
P-39
"A Russian bomber"
Yak-3

Round 1 eliminated  Brewster Buffalo, G.55, Japanese fighter, and Russian bomber
Round 2 saw He 111 and Me 410 leaving the competition
In round 3 the Yak-3 was kicked
The A-26 was eliminated in round 4
Final round: B-25 did win over the P-39 by a very narrow margin.

Obviously, there is a much greater population in the game than just represented on the forms. Who wouldn't want a nook!

There will be no nuke.  The B-29A and nook are 100% unrelated.

Does the average voter realize this? I can only guess how many of the B-25 voters in 2007 hoped for taking off from CV's... ;)

Yes, lets vote. The democracy. Lets vote again and again and again untill there's no American aircraft to add....  :(

Well, I guess it is just as good option as adding planes like the Betty. It is true that the MA-favourites will see more use overall.

Well, I have voted, that's all I can do.

Point of order: The B-25 and P-39 have turned out to be VERY good adds for a number of scenarios, including early PTO, North Africa/Mediterranean, and the Eastern Front (not so much the B-25 for the Eastern Front, but the P-39 was practically a NECESSITY). Granted, I think the Betty and Oscar should have been first due to the very porous Japanese plane set, but it's REALLY hard to say that the B-25 and P-39 were poor choices taken in context of the entire game.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Who wouldn't want a nook!
Upon witnessing the first atomic weapon detonate at the test site in Alamogordo New Mexico, Oppenheimer was reminded of a passage from the Hindu holy book Bhagavad Gita:

"I am become death, the destroyer of worlds."

We need the B29.  We do not need the nook!

What are the chances of more Yak fighter series squeaking by?

for example:

(missing)
yak-1
Yak-3
yak-7
yak-9D

(in-game)
yak-9T
Yak-9U

That plane is Red Army's main fighter as to Luftwaffe's 109 and RAF's spitfire.

One can just hope that in the next round the line "no nook" will be added to the B29 choice. Just to level the playing field...

If HTC thinks the M-18 would disrupt the ground war, we will never see any GOOD late war birds like a B29........

Sad really....... Maybe Lusche saw the writing on the walls before the rest of us?

If they don't want to "unbalance" then we will never see anything good anymore.

So where do we go from here?

Pretty much all of the good late war birds are already in the game. The B29 is the only big one thats missing.

Boy's,  (the only good late war plane missing is the B-29...) < thats just wrong, icky, repugnent, and downright silly!

We dont have an A-26 in the hanger yet..., and that thing is a beautiful piece of hardware.
