My generation..

Just a thought. Most kids today are incompetent, foolish, ignorant, so on. Granted, there is an amount who are gifted, polite, for the most part good kids. Unfortunately, that kind of person as a whole seems to be fewer and fewer in the world, as opposed to the past.

I suppose it would be better if my generation (16th birthday was on 30th of the 10th) were to be killed off and restarted. Sure, it sounds awfully morbid, but if this generation is the hope of the future, then gosh we're screwed.

Anyhow, not trying to insinuate anything, just a thought. A big <S> to you oldies (26+) and good luck to the next batch of kids that come through.



Hmm, I suppose the majority of the BBS community will either ignore this thread, or read it and say 'pathetic, no meaning, not worth my time', or something along those lines. Probably because I'm 'known' as EskimoJoe, also 'That one guy that is below the rest of us, sub par'. Am I right? Just a thought.

i actually see what he's describing. i see it every day.

 it's disturbing, when a girl says she rear ended a van because her abs didn't work. and no matter how we tried to explain to her that she shouldn't need her abs, she just couldn't get it.
 
 then there was the girl that thought we ruined her brakes, because they stopped vibrating after we replaced the pads, and destroyed rotors, and cleaned off the trigger wheel(all the metal shavings causing the abs to activate)

Eskimoe, I see your point. Every generation had it's losers. With the internet I think you just see more of them. Along with that you can also see more of the good folks. They just don't usually get as much air time.

The only thing you can do is take the high road yourself. Let the others fall as they may.

Today, with a few notable exceptions, most of my childhood friends turned out pretty normal - doctors, lawyers, businessmen, etc.

I think every generation has this problem. In my parent's day, Buddy Holly and Elvis were evil, before that it was Big Band Swing, before that Jazz.

Course, today, I think I'm in the majority of people who'd love to kick the crap outta Justin Beiber, so I guess I'm no different than my old man!

I kid turned 16. We are make her drive everywhere we go. Well we are the only ones All of her 10ish known friends got their parents hand on the keys of the car "U got ur licence ... go ahead". Not really? Seriously?   No wonder she's scared when she drives with them.

Kids are like pets, they are a handfull and require constant supervision. That takes ALOT of your time, often all of ur free time and this generation of parent being the most materialistic one ever, too few think that being a good parent is "providing". As a result, we have a bunch of self educated whimpy spoiled brats runing around.

Music tends to be a good social indicator of the state of society as a whole, especially if you're looking backwards.

The problem with society as a whole is multi-fold. We (society) want everything for free, we want it now. There's a highly vocal minority who are driving the agenda that we shouldn't offend ANYONE for any reason. We (society) are, for the most part, complacent, waiting for someone else to solve the problem. I think this carries over in different permutations from generation to generation.

When I was 10, 11...I didn't care about politics, or the war in Vietnam. When I was 20 Gulf War was a concern, but I felt it was for the right reasons. By the time 24, 25 rolled around, I was beginning to see and comprehend the moral breakdown of society, crime, etc. By 35 I was actively trying to help change it, because I had the ability and the time. Now, at 43, all I can do is vote and try to make sense of all the mud-slinging and blame-game TV commercials.

I look at kids now and ask myself if I was like that when I was a kid. Gang wars, shooting, drugs, of course not. But I'm sure some guy my father's age drove by me riding my bike with an Iron Maiden T-shirt and thought "What a loser".

I still have that T-shirt!

what appears now will mature into something different with time, i was a teen in the 70's.. been there, done that, tried that, partied like a rock star, hung around the stoner/jock crowd i guess i could of been influenced by people but i always kept what my parents and grandparents taught me inside, Now at 50 i have all i want now, new house, great lady, all my toys, great kids and a 2 grandbabies,   but i will say the majority of kids today are alittle self-centered and have that give me give me attitude, All the parent can do and should be doing is helping to guide there kids in whats right and what's wrong, the value of things and how to obtain what they want in life even after there away from home, your still a parent try to guide it's what we do
