making a point...
« on: November 02, 2010, 11:43:59 AM »
As of now everyone knows about the whiny Spit14 questionable perk. I believe the spit14 should stay perked and for good reason and im going to try and prove my point this tour. as of now for this tour i am 5 and 0 in the spit14 so far and last tour with my limited 2 flights in it i am 5 and 1. im going to try and get the highest K/D i can in the 14 this tour with the most kills possible per flight and i will keep my fighter score as spit14 only as long as i possibly can. <S>

(basically we're about to find out if the perk is worth it or not compared to my flying capability)

Which will prove nothing on that very question.

If someone goes out in the 190A-5 and ends up with a k/D of 10... does that mean it should be perked? ;)

HT should conclude this upon your ability or lack therof in this plane?   :headscratch:

So if I were to fly a Hurri-Mk1 the whole tour and come up with a great K/d ratio, will they perk it?

I did fly the Hurri I as my main ride in the LW arena in tour 91. Ended up with a k/D of 4.41 and 300 kills. I think we should give it ENY 5 at least  :D

If you are going to do it correctly and perform an analysis or case study, you need many pilots with various skill levels and they should be unaware of what the results are being looked at.

ive never flown the spit14 before last tour and i upped it twice. and if you get a high K/D in a 190 then youre just darn good :lol

never said this. im trying to prove my point to the argument. i fly 51s mostly and the spit14 feels like a 51 in some senses...a very powerful and tighter turning 51... but in the 51 i actually try my best to get a high K/D while being able to help my fellow squaddies and countrymen still. look at my K/D there. not the best. im doing the same in the 14. if its alot better than my 51B and 51D K/Ds then in my opinion its worth the perk.

Rather than trying to get a bunch of volunteers, just do some data mining from last month or two in the stats. Recommend doing a random sample rather than the top 10 or something. Doing it based off of your own results would be biased as you are trying to get a good score and you know what you do will affect the results.

yes but at the same time im trying to show that its worth the perk. the tempest is worth the 50 perk cost yet some people dont know how to fly it. you must know that the spit14 isnt like other spits and that most pilots would believe that a perked spit should ACT like a spit correct? i remember trying to use the spit14 when i was more of a noob... i used it like the other spitfires and i failed... epicly. everytime i see a spit14 in this game, its being used at low alts like a spit16 these days and out of its element entirely...

Its not exactly what you fly, IMO. It is how and who is flying it.

Anybody can go to 20k for a 5k fight and pick...

But not anyone could run into a furball in a Spit14, and come out alive...

Not to mention Spit14 better at higher altitudes. So what exactly is your plan on using this plane?

my one flight last night consisted of me flying in at 17k, picking one enemy, then defending a Vbase at around 5k and killed 4 more at approx that alt. it flies like a p51 and 51s can do well at these alts also. the spit14 also keeps up with 51s at this alt like a spit16 would and is more stable as a firing platform than the spit16. im not just going to pick with the 14.

(also... yes, not anyone could run into a furball in a spit14 and come out alive but its the exact same with tempests, f4u4s and f4u1cs). you cant go into a furball in a tempest and expect to actually  stay there long without dieing. a spit14 has more of a chance than the tempest.

I'll be surprised if you can find another XIV pilot that agrees with this :)

Which begs the question..... are there spit 16 pilots or just folks who ride in them?
