A6M2 3D Modeling
« on: November 02, 2010, 03:55:40 PM »
The A6M2 is a great plane and all, but what I would like to see is that it gets remodeled.
The way it flies and handles makes it a great plane, I just hope the one day we get a remodeled A6M.

remodeling in the sense of updating to AH2 standards then I agree.  If you're referring to the flight model then I would have to disagree because quite frankly, there isn't anything wrong with either of the Zero flight models.

I wonder what takes longer, updating the graphics of 2 or 3 planes, or adding a whole new plane. I wouldn't mind if all the AHI planes were updated to AHII standards in a patch at the expense of a new plane or two.

With HTC's high standards for realism with cockpit art now, it's more likely that the art work does not take long per aircraft. It's the authentic resources to work from that probably takes time rounding up.

I would like to maintaine my personal fantasy that HiTech and Pyro have museum class libraries of performance data and photographs and Waffle's name is the problem with the slow output so far...... :P

Wonder if it's Waffle we need to send the next truck load of Scotch too...hmm.....hmmmm........ :noid

But if you think about it from a laborer's perspective, I'd rather create a whole new plane then sit around re-skinning a handful of planes we've had since Aces High One. I would assume that HTC kinda gets that 'ugh, do I haaave to?' feeling every time they think about their old, old planes  :)

It isn't reskinning.  It is completely redoing the aircraft from a completely fresh start.

It's not like they'd be doing it for the fourth time or something. The last time they did the A6M's was 10 years ago.

Which makes a pretty decent reason to remodel old aircraft though, there was a balance between remodeling and new planes,or atleast I thought.

If they keep increasing the texture size then they'll need to continously update the models to fit the new texture size.  An example is the new Mosquito XVI with the 2048 texture size for the cockpit art.  Those planes aready updated but only to the 1024 texture size will need the cockpit art redone for the 2048 textures.
