For sure ... Did you also read the Tom Swift series of books ?

(Image removed from quote.)

Never read any of those.  I got into the history non-fiction stuff really early.  I don't know why but the WW2 bug bit early.  I found the history section of the grade school library in 1st grade.  The school book sales always had the Ballintine books on WW2 and I was able to get a lot of those.  This particular book is the one that sent me over the edge on fighter pilots.  I was the only kid to check it out in grade school and I always had it :)

There were a series of book like that on Midway, PT109, Battle of the Atlantic, Flying Tigers, Aircraft Carriers etc.  Easy enough for a kid to read and plenty of photos to keep you paying attention.  The same folks did books on sports too.  I still have my one on hockey.  Jean Béliveau on the cover.  It was a good time to be a kid :)

I remember the opening of the show Superman.  If you remember Superman standing straight, with his fists on his hips

while a bad guy unloads his pistol on supermans chest.  When the pistol was empty the bad guy threw it at Superman.

Superman ducked the empty pistol.  LOLOLOLOL Couldn't quite figure why Superman wasn't afraid of the bullets but

was afraid of an mty gun thrown at him.   :O

he wasn't afraid of it, superman is just extremely lazy and dodging bullets would be too much effort but slipping a gun...eh he could do that without breaking a sweat :D
