dude ....new card!..... better gas won't help a 10 hp motor at nascar event!

yes you meet min reqirements but there is no way you can effectivley enjoy the game with a 256 card.

you can get a card at walmart or staples cheap, might want to look into it.

I have a feeling this will get moved over to Hardware/Software very soon.

Groundfeeder, you have to understand that not everyone is in a financial position to buy new hardware.  I believe you'll find that many people here still use the 7800/7900 line of video cards (and probably just as many are using cards even 'older' than that!)

Yes I know $40 or $50 may not sound like much money, but to some people that kind of an investment simply isn't worth it if the more intensive thing they use their computers for is Aces High.  Until fairly recently I was using a 7900GS with a lot of success with Aces High!

Ping, I can't recommend a specific graphics driver version for you, but feel free to check out my VIDEO SETUP GUIDE in PDF format by clicking on THIS LINK.

Bfg stopped making video cards so I would look for something else.

See?  Once again a comment that is not helpful to the original poster!  :lol

I'm assuming that Ping already has the card, which makes whether or not BFG is still in business a moot point.

Nvidia recommends the 260.99 drivers at the following link:

Thanks Tigger.
At this time I cant justify a new card because it would
have to be a completely new system upgrade. So I work with what I have :)

The on thing I WOULD NOT have done is point him to the new drivers.

Be really careful.  NVidia has made some serious boneheaded moves lately, with their drivers.

Ping,I used to have a 7800GTX in my old system.

IIRC I used the 160 series drivers,ya that old but they were more stable than most the updates that came after that.

Just because it's the newest and latest driver doesnt mean it's best for your card, the 7800 cards might not even be supported with the latest drivers.

If you check back in the forums to around 08 I think you;ll find some posts that relate to your card and driver issues.

  hope that helps.

Well I probably should have expanded my answer & the reasons why. I see though others have pointed out the problems at present with NVIDIA with the following posts. Since BFG has gone belly up on video cards I don't want to see any one else get caught out with $800.00 plus dollars of cards that are all just about near useless as I have.

I have never used BFG but I have bought XFX and a few others although now Im solidly in the Evga camp.

I would go to the Nvidia archives with something that old although telling anyone a specific series would be difficult I think.

I appreciate all the replies.

Tried the newest and it caused some bad graphic glitches in AH.
I have gone back to the original drivers from 03 that work Ok and will experiment from there.

Any further suggestions are still appreciated :)

p.s. other than a new system  :lol

Ping,

I bet if you look back in this forum to around 05/06 you'll see post on driver issues on Nvidea cards.

I'm not 100% sure but I think it started around the 180 series drivers, some of the older cards had lower performance and assorted issues.Like I said I used the 160,possibly 164.whatever and it ran for years, infact it still runs,I just dont own it.
