Incredible! Just stumbled on the summer 2001 special edition of 'The Flight Journal' in a small bookshop here in Belgium. The name: FIGHTERS....yum!
 
In short, you'll find the following pilot reports:
 
Flying the P38, by the late Jeff Ethell,
Zero - Myth, Mystery and Truth, by Corky Meyer (Grumman test pilot)
Hellcat vs. Corsair, by Corky Meyer (who tried them both extensively)
Flying the Spitfires (Merlin & Griffon), by the late Jeff Ethell
Flying the 109 (G10 by the late Mark Hanna, E & G by Capt. Eric Brown)
 
All this illustrated by superb photos!
 
If you aren't running to your local bookshop yet, there's something wrong with ya...  :p
