I fell for it when new, and when it happened I smiled, muttered "Oh those turds" and logged back in to fly.  It's a silly thing, but it's harmless fun and a right of passage in online gaming.  Far more serious issues in the world fellas. :salute

oh trying to save all the Alt f4 super powers for your self I see :noid

If you're dumb enough to fall for it then so be it.

Yea and if they can't take a joke either...sometimes when I'm clearing the 6 of a squady I like to make bets with them to see if i could do it with my eyes closed, though they would prefer if I just killed the bandit. Point is people should have a sense of humor :D

Sure it's cute to mess up the 2 weeker's but the honest truth is 1 in 17, 2 weeker's do not log back in.
HTC is trying to make a buck, and that kind of nonsense does not help.
ANYBODY typing "alt-f4" should get a chat ban
This is my wish.

1> I don't agree with your statistics.  You're explanation of "Simple name tracking and hours compiled with a +/- of about 20%" makes no sense AT ALL and has NOTHING to do with ALT+F4 usage.  I took a statistics class awhile back and if I remember nothing else about it, it was "you can manipulate statistics to say ANYTHING you want them to say."  How can 9 out of 10 dentists prefer CREST in one commercial, and then 9 out of 10 dentists prefer COLGATE in another?
2> What crawled up your butt this morning?
3> This has been happening for years now.. long before AH was even around.  Even before Windows it was CTRL+C.  HTC is aware that this is being done due to them adding to the little "hints" during the load screen, "You can quit the game immediately by pressing ALT+F4" or something of the like.  In my opinion, if HTC felt it was that big of an issue, then they would have already implemented  something like what you suggest.
4> If they in fact DID NOT come back due to that prank being played on them, then they probably don't have a sense of humor and wouldn't be beneficial to the game environment anyway.  How did you slip through?
5> You call us Trolls, yet you're the one who started this absurd thread?  You act like this is something new and is a huge deal when in fact it isn't!  I bet you were one of the people whining and crying about how YOUR GAMEPLAY EXPERIENCE was ruined when the CLAWS came out?  Get over it, laugh at life a little, and move on...

Do keep it in perspective.....  I'm not saying a week of chat ban, more like 5 minutes.  If you think about it, it would open up a new door for tricking people.........  Getting somebody to type it out just so you can stop their chatter........

everyone in this thread typed alt+f4....your all banned!  :P

As for the "yours stats are wrong" people.....  You have all, also never had a course such as "How to lie with Statistics."  (Yes that is a real class at most universities) OK so yeah, no crap it's flawed, same as all data collection is.  But even if it was 1 in 100, how many new players do you think HTC gets in 1 year?  Say it's 100 player a month, 1200 per year and now 12 of those new players will choose never to log in again.  That comes to $2,158.56 USD per year out of HTC's pocket.

Stop from being yourself for a moment and become Carrie (Business Admin) for a moment........  How would you feel if you knew 12 potentially paying customers never came back?

And as for that data tracking.........  If you look up a new players name who has has about an hour of gameplay day 1 of tracking, and 2 weeks later they still have less than 1 hour of playing.....  Sure it could be a number of different reasons why they never logged back in, but at the same time, how can you sit here and tell me it isn't because of our childish actions?

How can you sit here and tell me it is?  Your observations are based purely on speculation.  You admit that you cannot control the internal validity to your numbers, yet still stand behind them.  There are multiple confounding variables with your "research" which isn't really research at all.  You are at the hypothesized part of your observational research, explaining to us how one would do it, but you never actually doing it.  Your numbers are inherently flawed.

Second, from a business admin stand-point.  How much time (time=money) would HTC have to spend implementing and moderating this?  Skuzzy might spend hours replying to emails or making fixes because people felt they were wrongly banned.  Risk vs. reward, is it worth it to put in man hours to save what might be 1 or 2 people a year?  Especially considering there are probably dozens more who leave for other issues (i.e. caps).

How can you sit here and tell me it is?  How can you tell me it isn't?  And with this ambiguity, how can the people running the business not take action against it?

Second, from a business admin stand-point.  How much time (time=money) would HTC have to spend implementing and moderating this?  NONE... The code is already in place, it's a question of adding that word to the word-list.    Skuzzy might spend hours replying to emails or making fixes because people felt they were wrongly banned.  Risk vs. reward, is it worth it to put in man hours to save what might be 1 or 2 people a year?  Especially considering there are probably dozens more who leave for other issues (i.e. caps).  You do realize typing the F word gets you a chat ban right?  So what is there to talk about?  No work for Skuzzy.  Fword you or ALTF4, to the code it's the same thing.

HTC is operating a vast conspiracy for his player base to develop an unhealthy attraction to sheep, thus making him millions from his hidden financial stake in the underground sheep herding business.

How can you tell me that's not true?  Oh, because I have no evidence.

You also chose to ignore some of my other points in the second paragraph, like policing the system (especially considering Alt F4 isn't always used to trick noobs), or other issues that might be more pressing for HTC.

I totally believe that.... I have evidence......I have seen sheep trucks all over Grapevine....  :rock

I didn't ignore you Bro, I just said that there is no additional work for the Skuzzy.  Same as nobody calls them when they said a bad word, they won't for this either.

But seriously? Come on man. You could say the same thing about 2 weekers getting shot down and not logging back in. When I started a few years back, and asked how to start a squad, I got the old "Alt-F4". When I logged back in I told them the game shut down, we all laughed, and they told me I was now an official Knight. They then proceeded to help me by explaining that I should probably fly with a squad rather than try to start my own when I hadnt played the game much. For me, the Alt-F4 experience actually benefitted me and help me learn the ropes a bit and even land me a seat in the Drunken Monkeys. So, if a two-weeker doesnt log back on, then he probably hasnt his heart set on the game in the first place. For me, I laughed, shrugged it off, and proceeded to litter the cartoon world with plane parts.  :airplane:
