After the 2nd partof the tutorials, my CBM in game was pitch black, you could see field icons but not the gridlines or grid numbers. Do you know what I did wrong???

The bmp file needs to be indexed 256 color.  Not sure about the indexed part, but pretty sure about the 256 color part.  :)

Make sure in the bottom right for terrain window options and select "Grid" prior to clicking on make map.

First page of this thread, and the 13th post down references the link to the USGS site for the DEM data.

No problem bud... the link in the document is actually an ftp link more for an ftp client... you can
use the following http link and get there as well... you will just have to download them one at a time.
http://edcftp.cr.usgs.gov/pub/data/gtopo30/global/

There is also a tiles.gif  image in the folder there which tells you what dem file covers what area of the globe, in case you only need a particular area..

Let me know if you need anything else.

It is offline, at the moment, due to a hard drive failure at the colocation facility where the server is.  We are working on getting it back online today.

The link to geo-data is not available...

Does anybody have an up-to-date link? Or alternative source of this geo-data?

Edit: The server is offline due to the government shutdown...   :(

Is there any non US-government mirror available?
