Ideas regarding Caps in Arenas

I just was thinking about some ideas that may help with the Caps in both blue and orange arena. They might not be original but worth throwing into consideration regardless if it’s already been brought up before. I know it can downright be frustrating when you are having good time, and you freeze up, disconnected, game crashes, etc., and not be able to get back into one arena because of caps. Anyway, here is some ideas and not in any particular order.


1. Cap for the weekend/all week (with exception of Titanic Tuesday) be 350-400 at all times and does not reset unless by HT themselves.

2. Players who are idle in the tower for more than 10-15 minutes should automatically be removed from the game. People who are going to play should be allowed in rather than prevented by non-active people who are sitting in tower.

3.Perhaps open another late war arena(s) either based on the player’s rank or just another one in general (with first idea with 350-400Max)

And with 500 people being logged in you will have 400 in Orange, and 100 in blue, with all 100 people in blue complaining that they can't get into Orange.

HTC has already said they will NOT do this as people are paying to play the game, not to get kicked out.

and what will that solve, they can't get 2 arenas to fill evenly with out people complaining now.

You could spend hours reading all of the ideas that have been put forth and the reasons they have been shot down. Unfortunately what we have is the best and FAIREST way of doing it. It gives everyone the "chance" to get into the arena they "must" instead of just jumping into an arena and stirring up some trouble and have some fun.

I agree with all your points up to that one (Fixed caps do not work as people tend to think they will).
But the current mechanism was the best one, and quite fair. But thats not the case anymore. The parameters have changed.

again, then you end up with 200 in orange and 10 in blue at a certain time.

Agreed Lusche, up until the resent drop (seeming but not proven  :D ) in population numbers they had the system pretty well tweaked. I agree that they should do something about the timing for our Euro players.

I agree that they should do something about the timing for our Euro players.

IMHO, the easiest way would be suspension of caps on working days. That will spare us from all the trouble of letting the caps kick in at a later point than now, respectively determining at what point the should kick in.
Right now, we only have for very short times (1-2 hours at US peak) numbers that come close to the numbers of old. In the time after the split in tour 81, we often had as many players in LWO as we do now have in both LW arenas combined.

Perhaps never have the maximum cap in blue exceed the max cap in orange.  No more 250/200 orange and 175/250 in blue.  That way it'd be easier to get to the percentage of players required in blue to up the cap in orange.

... which would be alot better than now. choice would be restricted only when an arena is at maximum capacity, rather than for the bulk of the time. you cant get into an arena because its full is alot easier for players to understand and accept than you cant get into an arena even though it isnt full because of some abstract concept of balancing.

this doesnt make sense - if you're inactive for 20mins+, you arent playing the game. all games Ive played have had an inactivity kick, no one complained about it.

Interesting reply, but I thank you nonetheless. HTC also said the B29 would never be in the game and low and behold, it very well may be in it, even if very limited and in SEA arena. I think the idea about kicking people out who are idle seems reasonable. True, people do pay to play, however, why should the people who can't get in because of couple of players who aren't considerate enough to log out and let others in? They pay as well so I think if someone is idle in tower, they should be booted. I  think that is far by all means.

sitting in the tower is stopping anyone from playing. There are many other arenas to choose from.

Facted is people that pay to play get mad when the Arena is capped. If people choose to play in Orange then they should be able to play with their  squad or friends in Orange. When Orange capped players get mad. If you pay you should be able to play where you want. I've talked with many people that get mad over this problem.Caps should be set at 600 each Arena, this will keep players happy. Then players can choose there arena without feeling like the  ugly kid at the dance.
 As far as the inactive kick......YES  YES  YES. Maybe a 30 min time limit on it. I do feel sorry for those people that stay logged in 20 hours a day. A little hint  that fan in your comp will not last forever I fix at least 2 comp a week due to fan burned out because they  leave their comps on 24/7 then  the insides heat up and melt. You have a off switch  use it or pay the price.

No one is being kept from playing.

No one is being kept from flying with their squad.

If you're paying to play, then play. 

If you choose not to play, who's fault is it?

Sitting in the tower for 30 minutes as you take a shower is the same as upping from a far away base
and auto-climbing for 30 minutes as you take a shower.

Either way, you're still playing the game, you're just not actively participating within the game.

At least, that's how my polar-express train of thought puts things.
