for seadog and you other p-47 guys
« on: November 07, 2010, 01:54:42 PM »
just thought i'd pop a couple links of interest in for y'all.

milleville nj was one of the first homes of the jug.......

http://www.p47millville.org/
http://www.p47millville.org/P47-Millville.cfm?p=History-Home

for those of you that live in flying distance, it's a cool airport to land at. they have good food there troo.....

there's a small muesum on the field, and a guy named tom duffey has quite a few of his own rides there, including a spit, a b-25, a corsair, and i think he still has his beech staggerwing......and i think he has a p-47 too.
he used to hangar his planes at red lion airport till he got the b-25, which couldn't possibly be safely landed there, so he moved to millville.

 anyway,....hope yas enjoy.

still think the p-38 is better.  :devil

i've not been to the museum yet, but i've worked the airshow there a couple of times with cap. i've landed there on occasion too, one of which was a "precautionary" landing, as we had heard a "thump" in the airplane, just as the tach jumped. we were within easy glide distance, so we throttled back, and flew straight in.

never did find out what the thump was.

 :rofl

we looked around the airplane, and couldn't find any evidence of a strike......when we got back to vay, we pulled it into the maintenance hangar, and looked again....couldn't find anything, so we just squawked it for them to look over
