hmm

from the wing size and the twin contrails it could be a U2 spy plane

But it also looks like a really high DC-3 fromthe look of the tail

I doubt that is a U-2.  U-2 is single engine, this has two contrails....DC-9/MD8x

Since when do DC-9s have straight wings?

More than likely its a Cessna Citation

In your photo, it appears that the contrails are forming slightly in front of the tailplane, which is obscured from view. The engine location of the Cessna justifies the contrail position, and the obscured tailplane (because of the angle and the contrails), would suggest a tail that's obviously higher than the engines.

It is 100% an orange test version of the Nakajima J9Y. Straight wings, two contrails, painted orange, yep definitely the J9Y  :old:

Seriously though I believe it's impossible to tell. All guesses are bases on the plane's basic shape (wings and the fuselage), two contrails, the color, and the sky around it

NASA has had a couple B-57s flying around doing high altitude research for a while.  They're based at Ellington Field.

I'm with Golfer on this one. Based on the photos and the flightpaths posted, you just got a look at a B-57.  :aok
