Could be the most game killing addition to the game yet. I'll be waiting to see how they impliment it without killing the base game.

Votes would be weighted based on time subscribed.  There would be a factor assigned.  That would mean that they are never equal.

First, read carefully, then comprehend what is being said.  If you do, maybe you won't make silly comments like the one above.  You obviously think that it is because I wanted a fighter that I am not happy.  That is a preconceived notion based on prejudice.  From my real life experience, I have come to know that only ignorant people jump to conclusions based on prejudices.  For that very reason I was going to wait and see what type of people will be flying the B-29 before I made my final judgement, but I must say you are confirming my suspicions.

Btw, I voted for the He-111.  That kind of blows away your "fighter" theory doesn't it?

Based on your theory, a guy has been a subscriber for 8 years. But however he rarely plays but maybe a night or two a week. He has somewhat of a knowledge of WWII. But is a loner and doesn't contribute much to the game due to his inactivity.

Now you take a guy who has been a subscriber for 4 years, He plays the game every night. Runs his own squad and adds a ton of fun and variability to the game.

The first guy will get more votes or his vote will be weighted more than guy number 2 just based on his subcriber length???

HELL! I wish politics were like that!

The fact is that you can NOT alienate potential new long term subscribers by saying there vote will not be considered as equal as someone elses. This is NOT an incintive it would be the opposite. You think people would really throw out 15$ bucks a month just so they could get a bigger say in a vote? Of course not, they throw their 15$ out because of the game. My 15$ is just as equal as yours. The reason why HTC is in business is just as much as my doing as yours, regardless of length of subscribing.

Did you read the post? I tell you what, go down to your local high school and ask each kid they to list what a HE 111 is and what it was used for, then do the same for the B29. I'm pretty sure that less than 10% will know what a HE 111 is, but the B29 will be much more well known. As for history about WWII these days, most schools cover Pearl harbor, and the 2 Nukes dropped on Japan. Hitler crops up now and then too.  :devil

Fugitive, You said that years ago people would have voted by its HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE. Your words. I could get the quote but can't be bothered going back through 6 pages to find it. If that was true the HE 111 would have been in a long time ago. Are you honestly trying to tell me that the HE 111 wasn't important? I know your smarter than that.

My point was not that people would know the HE 111 more than the B29. I would always say people in High School with a basic knowledge in WW2 would know a B29 more than a HE111. I was arguing the fact that you say that the B29 would not have been voted in since it was not as historically important as other planes. Surely, SURELY a plane that served from 1939-1945 across all the ETO, through many differant guises is more Historially important? In which case, why was it not added 10 years ago?

I voted for the HE111 because it's my favorite bomber beside the B17. However the B29 is a great addition. Back in High School in history class we had to do a presentation on WWII. I chose to do a presentation on the great game makers as far as aviation in the Pacific and European theaters. I chose 4 planes from each side in each theater.

A kid sitting next to me wanted to do something very similar to what I was doing except over the American bombing campaign in Europe. He listed the P-51 as having 10 .50 cal at standard loadout, that the B17 was the most produced bomber, and he even mixed up the pictures with a P-40 and a P-51. My jaw dropped to the freaking floor and the kicker was that people were going to eat that bull$%#@ and say it tasted like pie.

And what does an air-war consist of? ACM and fighter tactics maybe?
Fighters exist to control airspace to allow bombing, reconnaissance, transportation, and denying the enemy access to the same.

Playing with fighters is fun and glamorous, but not an end in itself, at least in the real world.

On the OP: B-29 is not the end of the game.  How many passes will it take to drop the payload?  I usually make two or three passes with B-17s ...

Don't get me wrong, I have been in this game long enough to realise that any addition is a good one. I'm looking forward to flying the B29. However to say that it is more historically important that the HE111 seems a bit fishy yea?

Unfortunatly due to burn out, I no longer fly online. Doesn't mean I don't care what goes into this game. I would have voted for the HE 111, I did in the last poll and I'm still waiting to see it added.

The point of my post is not that the HE 111 hasn't been added, more that Fugitive stated that 10 years ago we would have voted in a plane that was used in many areas of WW2, would fill a gap in the plane set and would be a good addition to the FSO and the SE arena. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but the HE 111 ticks all of those boxes, so why has it not been added? To say that a plane would be added many years ago for differant reasons seems to be looking back with Rose tinted glasses about how good everything was. Clearly that is/was not the case as otherwise the HE 111 would already be in game.

We should elect a committee of AH vets.  These vets should select new a/c from lists submitted by HTC.  Allowing "squeaks" who won't be playing in 6 weeks to control the future of the game is not a good idea.    Me-410

We would have had the Beaufighter then.   :aok

Actually, if you look at the voting, everything but the B-29 was pretty even past the first round.  That either signals a distinct polarization or the fact that no one really cares.  Also, there was no "don't care" on the vote breakdown.  Did anyone vote that way?

At any rate, the active, playing customers have spoken.  Live with it.

I would love having the He111 in game and look forward to it when it gets here, provided I'm still playing.

For shets and geggles: I would say that the He111 was not a game changer for the luftwaffe and probably didn't have much strategic impact after mid 41.  I would say on the Western front the He111s biggest claim to fame was helping lose the Battle of Britain.

Still it had a beauty all its own.

Well the dang hose is going to get a workout then. Hunting 29s will be fun. I'll alert S.A.P.P.

Thanks for testing them. Would be terrible to find out they fail on the first long run.

I truely was not aware that the first test between Texas and Florida failed.
