Frame 2 "In Harms Way"
« on: November 12, 2010, 11:33:26 PM »
<S> to the Japanese pilots (A6M and N1K1) we tangled with over the troop factory area. You guys were a hard group to pin down and gave a great fight!

I knew that was a blue plane squad by the way you were fighting  :lol :aok.  My worst fear was that we would run into a higher group of blue planes from a blue plane squad and immediately have to fight defensively, pushing us down and into a even worse position.  Once realizing the situation I tried to take blue flight (5 of us) north to gain alt before trying to re-engage.  Of course you guys didn't want to have that and chased most of us down before we could do that. By the time I finally got co-alt I think I was dragging 3 and the rest of blue flight was RTB shot up, and one discoe, fortunately one of my squaddies Kansas, from another flight, showed up and we started a bit of a melee.  I managed to grab a hold of one hellcat's tail, but his wingman wouldn't let me chew on it very long, ended up switching between the two a few times.  Finally landed some good hits on one of them, part of tail and a fuel hit if I remember right (managed to get it home I see :aok).  I let him dive away since I had two approaching from 1.5k or less.  Looked around and saw no friendlies.  Split S'd  under the pair and tried to disengage, fortunately you guys let me :D.  B25's were called out low at the troop factory, so headed that way.  Got a kill and a partial , and was cannons dry and low bb's so RTB'd.

You guys, pretty much took my flight out of the fight, good job :aok

The hellcat that got the tail and fuel hit was me.  :uhoh  Took off my right stab and my main fuel.  Barely made it home.  :salute

First FSO in a month - straight after launch, I notice my frame rate sucks, which is very unusual. 30 minutes in and I notice everyone else is real warpy. After a couple of minutes of wondering what the heck those guys are all doing, it dawns on that perhaps it isn't them that's warping and get that sinking feeling. 10 minutes later...

Would love to blame the game, but I got kicked out of Ventrillo at the same time. Think I can sue my cable company for the mental anguish...? :cry

Thanks Bino.  I'll pass that along to the guys and they will post and return the kind words.  I know from chatting with our guys that it was a fun fight.  <S> to your group as well.  I wish I would have had film of that!  I also watched a Ki-67 just tear down the runway straffing and bombing in the ack.  It was almost surreal.  As always, you and your group are a classy bunch and a great squad!  Cya in the skies!  :airplane:

That was my wingman and  myself you were initially fighting with, Branch came in a bit later when the two of us had a hard time pinning you down. After a few moments fighting you I called off that we had a good stick against us. You made me pretty nervous a couple times. Good flying.  :salute You keep getting lucky get aways from VF-17  :devil I'll be looking for you next week.  :D
