the numbers under frame rate
« on: November 19, 2010, 12:57:43 PM »
i got a new vid card......GF 9500GT 550M 1GB DDR2 TV DVI PCI-E....not the best but it works ok. Under my frame rate my old card said 256GB and like 144 used. This one reads....vidmem 2287.om ..used 4.9m...cnt=0. Is this right ? my frame rate is holding 59 most of the time but will still drop to the 30's and 40's sometimes. Trying to learn this stuff ...little help plz?

Newer drivers used some portion of system RAM, along with video card RAM.  The 9500GT is not a very fast video card, and the 1GB of video RAM is actually slower than the 512MB or 256MB RAM used, so they can keep the cost low.

Yeah that just displays what windows reports.

Windows takes into account the video ram, system ram, and total population of smurfs living inside of your DVD drive.

Basically, just ignore those numbers.
