After giving nate the benefit of the doubt for weeks he became my first INSTA-squelch.  The first time I heard him or saw any text he would be squelched.  It was VERY effective. :aok

Fact is, he's not 30.  He hasn't been accepted by this community.  We're all at fault when it comes to that.  I've ignored him at times, but even when I was on range it didn't ruin my day...  This game is in constant evolution.  If we can't take the younger players under our wings then it will fade away when all of us "old" sticks go away.

If most of us (certain people excluded) were in a situation that required us to deal with a younger person, we would NOT treat them the way they're treated here.

It's disgraceful to see adults attack a kid in this way.

I havent even made it thru all the comments but had to respond to this one. We have a squeaker in the squad. we told him to calm down and listen......he did so, and is still in squad. 800 nate, just never shuts up....clogs vox and local and drives everyone around him NUTS. I have nothing personal against him, but this is MY rec time also and dont wanna hear about every single detail of every single thing he did during the day. When you tell him to clear vox,he would get an attitude almost instantly! he felt the game was about him and no one else. Even for a young kid he had HORRIBLE behavior.

Anyone realized that because of you all chasing this kid away, that it just cost Hitech money.

I remember when I was 14 or 15 and an annoying squeaker in AW3 (armchair general, screaming at other players, never shutting up).  An older, wiser squad mate pulled me aside into one of those semi-private briefing rooms and made it perfectly clear that what I was doing was completely unacceptable.

At the time, it really made me mad and hurt my feelings.  I was upset about it.  I left the squad, did my own thing, and eventually left the game for a time.

I "hated" that squaddie for a long time.  Looking back though, I don't think anyone in this game has ever done more for me.

If Nate leaves, it's because he needs to leave for now.  It's clear, however, that he loves these games.  He will be back.  Let's just hope he comes back after a period of reflection, and that we are mature enough to clean the slate.

I always had luck with the .squelch command

With nate, that worked about 40% of the time.  I can't speak for anyone else but I had the kid on auto-squelch everytime I saw him on.  It was simply just too over the top not to.  Problem was he'd sign out and then back in (numerous times) and it's squelch-O-matic all over again, some nights ad infinitum.  Just when you thought you could communicate with others in the area...here he comes again.

There have been MANY young folks who play the game and they "got it".  SubwayCH, Vanscrew, (plus that kid who used to do the stuka missions about 5 years ago) who all got it.  They used text almost exclusively and mainly hung out on their own squad VOX while on VOX.  Sub and Vans are grown and college age now but it still stands that it can be done and it can be done with a decent level of maturity.

It's the kids that don't "get it" that can make it really rough for most people around them to communicate.

PS:  I had no idea "stealth" was a kid!  I've flown with the guy on numerous occasions (he's a great team-work player) and I would have never known.  You carry yourself in the game as someone mature and well mannered.  Kudos and props to not only you but your parents!   :aok   :salute

Oh ROX, STEALTH used to be a terror on the squad vox.

While a guy is ducking, diving, and generally running for his cartoon life, the last thing he wants to here is some kid with diahhrea of the mouth. In fact, he was the first (and maybe only) person that I've ever squelched. I mean it was BAD.

However, from what I've heard from others, young STEALTH has come a long way, and that pleases me to no end. (I always liked the kid.)

:salute STEALTH, glad to see that you're one of the kids that "gets" it.

For the most part, the community here responds positivly to the younger crowds. Yes you still the Dbags that get their kicks bullying people around, but Weve had some young players in our squad that were extremely respectful as far as taking advice and when it was appropiate to chatter on vox.

If any of you guys remember Cmustard or Av8torJr, those guys used to drive me to drink when they were in range. Respect really has be mutual as far as the older players watching what they say when someone obviously younger is present and the youngins respecting the older player's space.

Being steriotyped as a "squeeker" is probaby 20% pitch in voice, but 80% attitude. You start barking orders to join your mission or complain that noone joins your mission or wants to help, then you are a squeeker.

Him staying would cost Hitech money.   Chasing people away, ruining the game.  He drives everyone nuts.  Bad Marketing.   Tell you what beau32,  fly with him for a month tied to your hip while trying to plan missions for.  Guaranteed you will lose sanity while marginally trying to get anything done in the process.  Then come and revisit this thread.

Well that's why we made the squelch button. Unless you guys wanna like band certain kinds of people from the game and loose even more people. Not like we're loosing any now.

If someone was gonna leave this game though because of a 10 year old kid. That would be sad on so many levels first of all plus Nates a good kid, he's peer pressured in all of this. Unless you guys didn't graduate the 5th grade you should be smart enough to just squelch him or help him. Just make a button for squelching somebody on your joystick, like I did it works wonders trust me.

Nate may not be a bad person, but he really does need to learn his place.
Being the Internet we really dont have the ability to slap him up the backside of the head,
so we must resort to chastising him with the written word.

I tried at one point to assist him and like all other attempts before me it failed.

Nate at this point it is up to you and your willingness to learn and evolve.

Good Luck  :salute
