I'd like a convertible B-25, and a life raft for my crew and me when I ditch, please.  Also some oars would be nice for when I row to Sweden.
Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

And the top too?  Nobody really ever uses that turret anyway, to be honest.

Only if they model the buffet that would happen if you opened up the canopy in mid-flight.  In some planes, it can have some serious negative effects like the Lightning.

guys I think we can come up with better things to waste ah coading time, than this one.  and if you want cinema in a game get call of duty, or medal of honor, they have those 10 min of cinema prior to starting every mission.

Not without making the plane enter into a severe buffet.  I'm sure on some planes it really didn't matter or had an adverse effect but on others, like the Lightning, it had adverse effects.  Unless you were going to bail out, you didn't open the canopy at all in the P-38 while in flight.

so in other words: unless you were gonna bail, an open canopy in-flight would end up an epic fail for some of the speedy planes? Did I understand that correctly?

Why?
That'll just make it take longer to get back to the fight..

then why bail, and why have a chute ??

In some planes yes, though I can't say which ones other than the P-38 and I don't think the P-38 is alone in this.  When exiting out of the P-38, there were two parts to the canopy.  The top of the canopy would swing up and there was a side window that the pilot would roll down, that's how the P-38's canopy would open.  It was the side window if open in flight that would cause the P-38 to severly buffet.

Bailing doesn't help K/D in any way. It's still a "death" for K/D purposes.
