vista service pack 2
« on: November 21, 2010, 02:46:05 PM »
anybody ever successfully install this pos?

I am currently with service pack 1 and service pack 2 won't install on my laptop.

Says " Installation was not successful"

"the specified service does not exist as an installed service"  get error code 0x80070424

Also, updater does not work.

I hates vista!

Thanks, but already been there.

I'm thinking beating it with a bat might be good.

Read carefully all scenarios (applies for 32 bit too)

If none helps, then most likely your machine is infected with one of many Vundo variants or similar malware. Google for removal tools...

I've had Vista 64 bit SP2 on my machine for 2 years.  You more than likely have a virus, don't blame the OS.

Well, partly the OS is to blame also in this case :)
