Oddly enough, the mods must enjoy our company.  Seems like we're the only ones in there with them.

EDIT:  Sorry about the wind farm hijack.   :rofl

This might have some entertainment in it yet.   :rofl  Plus, I'm interested if the mods are really as clueless as they seem.

As for the actual topic, the non-trolls in it are giving me a good laugh.  For supposedly a bunch of tree lovers, they sure don't know a lot about trees.

Is it a limb or the trunk that's causing the trouble?
Not an arborist, but oaks seem survive considerable limb loss pretty well.

It'll either survive or have a very very slow death (likely climaxing with whatever remains of the tree giving way and falling ontop of your house during some storm).  Winning answer would be to cut the whole thing down unless you have some money to burn on a crane rental ( http://www.treemover.com/images/media/lg_photo21.JPG ).

lol waiting for my post to save the tree, i mention Arborists may use a Wirble to aid in lowering heavier branches lol

Well if I do have to cut it down I'll be able to make some natural furniture out of it but I feel like I'm contemplating putting a healthy pet down.

LumberJackLuke
I like that part of using what mother earth gave us for the furniture, at least the Tree ( Furniture) will live within your Family for years and years, as far as cutting down the tree call an Arborist there insured and know what there doing, alot of them use a Wirble when cutting for ease of lowering large branch's

Ok, I didn't want you to cut on your beautiful tree before we had a test to see if it survived.

So I went outside in my woods and cut up one oak tree, approximately in the same places and you described. Then I thought, maybe there's a better way to do it, so I made my own personal cuts on another oak tree, its not pretty but I think it will survive. My last tree too test was when I cut basically all limbs off, its basically a big stick sticking out of the ground now.

I will report every 2 weeks to give you an idea on how its going!

And not to worry about trolls, Tigerlily and I (gtd) stay on top of that.

Start posting, (in a new thread) and let's discuss anything sustainable that comes to mind, and again-
