way to go Top Gear USA!

US Topgear imo has better time trial track compared to UK version.  I think it would be even better if it had elevation changes :rock

I have to agree with Somerled, I was all hyped up about it but wasn't that impressed.  The dialogue was just too flat and the parts where they tried to have some humor didn't pan out like it should have.  I don't see it lasting long which is a shame.

You watch Top Gear for the time trials?  :huh

I was going to give the US version a chance, but after seeing some of the commercials I couldn't bring myself to it. The presenters look extremely unentertaining and the dialogue in the clips seemed extremely unspontaneous and forced, like they were merely trying to (and failing to) mimic Clarkson, Hammond, and May.

Top Gear is an amazing show because of the presenters and the things they get to do with seemingly unlimited amounts of British taxpayer money. You're never going to get that any place else, and, you don't need to, honestly. Top Gear is more than good enough for me.

The British eccentricities in language and culture make it worth watching... take that away and its just another car show.

I have no plans to watch the US version.   The UK version cannot be duplicated.

Simply awful.

Bad jokes, lame challenges and no real commentary regarding the vehicles they ran. (Other than, "It's expensive and has nifty paint.")

Way to be lousy History channel. (This re-hash will soon be history.)

The only people who I think that actualy liked the USA Top Gear are those without the mental tollerances for british accents and in general things that are culturaly different.... or to be best summed up; a bland remake for a blander audience.

Also, was there any doubt this was gonna happen?  The History channel has put its hands on another non-History television program, standby for the flop.

I don't see it ever becoming close to as entertaining as the UK version, but I'm going to wait for the season to finish before I pass a final judgment. I don't expect the first episode to be in the same league as the polished show that's been running since 2002. I do wish they wouldn't try to make a carbon copy of the UK version. They'll never succeed at that.

The snake race was neat but painfully obvious how scripted it was. The in-car camera kept shaking. Buzz Aldrin was a very interesting guest, but had a very boring interview. The most serious problem was that I didn't laugh once.

I hope it improves as the series progresses.

I wasted time watching it just to see the Lambo's, sorry I'm a sucker for Lamborghini's. Over 37 years on this planet still my favorite car.

Yeah the hosts suck, forced dialogue, no sense of history or interpersonal relationships between them. Yeah the format was dull, but you can say they totally ripped the camera shots and overall feel of the cinematography.

All that said, I feel bad saying this, I agree with OP a tiny bit. Their test track is much more interesting, and looks like more of a realistic challenge to a car's performance. Don't get me wrong, there's a point for BBC's track, and the history of it almost denies the chance of a redesign... Gambon's alone makes it something I want to watch. Anyway, the USA track is quite a good track, I'd like to see some of the BBC Top Gear cars go around it and see how they match up VS the BBC power lap times.

On the up side, BBC America now reruns UK Top Gear episodes for 8 hours straight every Monday night, however last week it seemed that they only played two episodes back-to-back-to-back-to-back.
