I see other threads relating to FUN and the Horde and how the one is somewhat inversely proportional to the other. I have long stated my own opinion that "Zone/base limit" (limiting the number of players permitted to be spawned from a field at any one time ) as similarly applied many years ago in AW kills the horde unless it is able to become very organised. And hordes are never if only very rarely organised.
The problem with this in AH is that (I think) it breaks a HTC caveat. It would deny players access to parts of the map in very clear cut way. Ie access to the evolving horde would be blocked absolutely and some times that horde may consist of a players fellow squad memebers etc etc. (start whine here)
So the question then is how can we discourage the horde whilst still giving choice? Usually in life there is a cost to choice and so instead of a base limit being a hard point of non access to a base how about if it becomes a sliding mechanism that modifies local ENY and Perk modifier at a base.
In this way it could be used such that the first # players spawned do so without modifying the local base ENY modifier. After # the modifier starts to increase ENY and increase Perk cost (or add perk cost where there previously was none) In this way the horde is discouraged unless it wants to be fed from fields further away (which is also a discouragement) whilst not actually stopping access completely.
The maths would need refining for optimum game play. Much of these maths would sit on the FE, k values would be set in the arena settings and local base values would be calculated in the FE which would need to be updated with a "still spawned #" when players access a tower or hanger.
Just an idea.
