North Korea not long ago stated that the cease fire that ended the Korean conflict was null and void (I believe it was only a year or two ago). So, the entire peninsula has been and continues to be a powder keg waiting for a big enough spark. So far, all the recent squirmishes have not involved any civilian deaths. Even this shelling of S.K.'s island miraculously avoided killing any civies, but could easily have. That's the really worrisome aspect of this latest act of war; N.K. seems unconcerned how dangerous their own brinkmanship has become. Had a bunch of women and children been killed in the arty barrage, what choice would S.K.'s leadership have had, but to respond in kind? Even now, the pressure by hawks in the South's own military and civilian leadership to respond more agressively to this attack on a largely non-military target. Worrisome is quite and understatement, actually. Praying for peace (but fearing the worst).
