War
« on: November 23, 2010, 03:09:40 AM »
Gents, I am not sure this is absolutely end of the world serious.

But the news is stating that North and South Korea are at war as of this afternoon Australian time. Airstrikes and skirmishing at the moment but could escalate unless diplomatic solution is found.

if not, the US is certain to join in, and if that happens, so will china.

Just a heads up.

They are shooting at eachother, that counts as war in my opinion.

This could get worse. Hoping it doesnt, but its more than likely

Just did in fact.

North and South Korea "unify" and invade while our economy is 'in shambles', as far as I understand it. Looks to be a promising game.

Hopefully the U.S. won't have to help out South Korea (I want to say again, but I'm no educated in that particular matter...)

The Americans pledging support is a gimme, its hardly an escalation...the North sunk a Southern warship early this year and it didn't blow out.

Forgot who said this while trying to take a base, but the quote goes like this. "I cant help you with ack, Im not in attack mode" This is with only 2 ack up in the town while troops were there, waiting. The rest of the town was down.

Ironically, the question is which SIDE will China join in on. There's a very real possibility that China would go AGAINST N. Korea, as IIRC they've been feeling annoyed and threatened by North Korea's belligerence lately as well.

Nothing new. North Korea starts some crap to get attention on a regular basis. It's how the little tin pot dictator gets money. They start an "incident", and in order to placate them, the rest of the world offers them some beads and trinkets to behave. They'll get some food and/or some money in order to behave. Maybe even some sort of trade concessions or something of that nature. Things calm back down, North Korea behaves for a while, then they need food, money, or something else, so they act up again. Lather, rinse, repeat. Another perfect example of why appeasement and placating are never good foreign policies. Other than "scale", it's no different than giving your 4 year old candy in order to get them to behave when you take them to the store.
