Week of Nov 25th

Götterdämmerung - The Push to the Rhine

As the spring thaws come to Germany, the last remaining vestiges of Germany's Panzerwaffe and Luftwaffe stage a fighting withdrawal into the heart of Germany - the industrial Rhine valley. The supply situation for the Allies has improved slightly, but armor units are still outpacing their supply lines, leaving themselves dangerously exposed as they press forward. Large-scale armor opposition has virtually disappeared, but more dangerous are the small guerrilla units of Tigers and Panzers roaming around the countryside. Although on the defensive, German forces are now on their own soil, making resupply much easier.

Armed with the vaunted Tiger and Me-262, the Germans are hard pressed to slow down the fighter bombers of the RAF and USAAF. All the while, Mustangs and Spitfires are on the prowl for the Messerschmitts and Focke-Wulfs of the Luftwaffe.

This is a fixed planeset, with perked aircraft and vehicles available at rear-area bases. Taking a perk plane might seem like a no-brainer, but the better the aircraft, the farther from the front you will be.

Specific aircraft types are outfitted for specific duties. In addition, British forces will be operating in the north, while US forces will be operating in the south.

Allied fighter aircraft will carry no ords.
P-38J
P-51B
P-51D
P-47M
Spitfire XVI
Spitfire XIV
Tempest

Allied fighter bombers will carry ords
P-38J
P-47D-25
P-47D-40
Typhoon
Hurricane IID
Mossie

Allied Bombers will operate from rear bases
Lancaster
B-17
B-27
B-25
B-26
Boston
A-20G
C-47 all airfields

Axis fighter units
Bf-109G-14
Bf-109K-4
Fw-190A-8
Fw-190D-9
Ta-152H
Me-262

Axis Fighter Bomber units
Bf-109G-6
Bf-109G-14
Fw-190F-8

Axis Bomber units
Ju-87
Ju-88
Ar-234
Ju-52 all airfields (sub C47)

Ground vehicles - in historical context, the Axis forces have a distinct advantage in GV quality, including use of the Tiger I and Wirbelwind. However, the availability of the Tiger is dependent upon the base - not all bases are equipped with Tigers. The Allies will have Firefly and 76mm Sherman, but will have to rely on air support to keep the German Jabos away.

Allied GVs
M4 75mm
M4 76mm (at US bases)
Firefly (at British bases)
M16
M8
M3
Jeep

Axis GVs
Tiger I (where available)
Panzer IV
Wirbelwind
Ostwind
SdKfZ 251
M8 (as a sub for German armored cars)
Kubelwagon (sub Jeep)

The key to this campaign are the strats. Although the Germans have jets, reducing their fuel factories will prevent them from flying to the front in that particular zone. Armor and aircraft must work together in order to succeed, especially since the Allies lack a definitive mobile AA vehicle.

Allies - Knights
Axis - Rooks
Neutral - Bish (do not attack A1)
Radar range = 1945
Altitude ceiling  20,000 ft
Icons are OFF
Egos are OFF
Attitudes are OFF

Some notes about this weeks setup
« Reply #14 on: November 25, 2010, 09:21:01 AM »
OK this is up.

Some notes:

127mph wind downdraft at 20k and above to effect a hard ceiling of 20k.

The following bases have air-spawns on the S runway

A3, A72, A73 and A28

Use these at your own risk. You are launched at 20k but with 0 airspeed and drop like a rock until you achieve enough speed to get lift, sometimes damaging your aircraft in the process.
