I've used a pair of shutterglasses like that before. They're not bad, but not that great either. I can't remember how much they cost, about $30 or $40 I think, and was good enough I didn't feel ripped off, but I can't fly it online.
The problem they have is they're effectively cutting both your pixels and your refresh rate in half, and if you go low enough on resolution to keep the refresh rate up then you've a striped version of your forward view.
Still, they do really give the 3d effect, and you do not have to install anything at all for them. I used to grab them and fly offline time to time just for the 3d feel, even just looking around the cockpit it's pretty cool. If I ever get a $2000 monitor, I'll probably pull them back out and try online.
