E-D glasses review@simHQ

Hey,
Have any of you used the 3D glasses above in AH? I might get them just for IL-2, but I was looking for some AH user feedback as well.

I've used a pair of shutterglasses like that before. They're not bad, but not that great either. I can't remember how much they cost, about $30 or $40 I think, and was good enough I didn't feel ripped off, but I can't fly it online.

The problem they have is they're effectively cutting both your pixels and your refresh rate in half, and if you go low enough on resolution to keep the refresh rate up then you've a striped version of your forward view.

Still, they do really give the 3d effect, and you do not have to install anything at all for them. I used to grab them and fly offline time to time just for the 3d feel, even just looking around the cockpit it's pretty cool. If I ever get a $2000 monitor, I'll probably pull them back out and try online.

What would 1600 by 1200 at 85mz be like Fatty ? I be thinking about getting the asus Ti 500 card that comes with them .

I recently got a Ti200 and tried the glasses in AH. It was cool but there is no benifit to using them other than it looks cool. The dawbacks are numerous though. First, since they are shutters and LCD it's like putting on grey shades while flying. Another thing is that they block your periferal vision which makes typing messages a bit, um, different. Most glasses will let you look down to your keyboard but to do so you must move your eyes down not your head and it takes some getting used to.Lastly, if you could see the pic the wife took of me flying with the glasses AND my headset you'd know why any fashion concious man about town would nix them

I got a set of glasses with my Asus v7700 32mb GF2. I tried em but optimal settings were in 800x600. To me the novality wasn't worth the trade off in eyecandy

airspro, 1600x1200 at 85 would be like 800x600 at 43, will give you a serious headache

They recommend you run at a resolution where the refresh is at least 120mhz, and I found that a pretty accurate guideline. You might be able to get by in 1024, but I doubt higher than that.

I think even 1 Mhz would be enough though
