College Football

Someone during Week 1 posted this:

How did your team do? Any surprises? Dissapointments? Prediction for the rest of the season?

UK played well against UofL in the first half, Cobb had an EXCELLENT one handed grab. Second half we faltered, penalties caused by our three freshmen offensive linemen hurt us, otherwise it would've probably been a blowout.  I think we'll go at least 7-6 this season, 8-6 if we go on to the Music City, Cotton or Outback Bowl. We have an explosive offense that is hard to contain, ( when we aren't running our 5-10 backs up the middle every two plays).  :rofl

College Football is here, baby!

:rofl :rofl :rofl    You said UK would beat Tennessee.     How were those Special teams?    :rock

EDIT:  26 years in a row!  :rofl

Back to the core:

Auburn is still the deserving team and will more than likely play in the BCS N.C. game, provided they win the SEC Champ. game.   If they make it, the Ducks are finally going play a capable team.

As for this:

No this will show that the Underrated PAC10 (next year PAC12) is just as good if not better than the media hyped SEC Conference, Auburn and Oregon will be a great game, i just see more threats as far as team-wise for Oregon as Auburn, Auburn its the cam newton one man show, Oregon has multiple threats, extremely fast paced offense which wears your opponent's down, if it ends up being these two it should be a great game

You are incorrect.  Zoom, you are too involved with your team to see that there is more to Auburn than Cam Newton.   Who shut down the Alabama Offense in the 2nd half?   Cam Newton?    Boise State was "touted" on here and they now are exposed as the frauds they were.

"Media Hyped SEC"?   Sorry, this is just simply not true.   The SEC is the most competitive Conference in NCAA I-A Football.   If you choose to stick with the "party line" than good for you.   But, beware of the Auburn Tigers in Jan. if the Ducks are facing em (and I am NOT an Auburn fan, but I will be rooting for em).

The SEC is a very competitive conference in football and the entire nation knows that.  Other conferences have done well but the PAC-10 is the Oregon show.  Auburn has had competition almost every week which everyone thought would be a close game and turned to be blowouts.

If I had to pick a conference to be second I feel it would be the Big 10 this year.  Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Michigan State have proven to be very competitive teams.  You could throw in Iowa in there as well and Michigan has electricity that has caught the eyes because of Denard Robinson.

Im a Florida fan and I believe Auburn and Oregon will be in the BCS game and I have a feeling Auburn will win.  The win against Alabama showed Cam Newton can kill you with his arm not just his legs.  This has to be difficult for any coach to contend with now with his showing against Alabama, 3 passing TDs if I recall correctly.  Cam Newton is a leader on the field and runs the offense smoothly.  The thing Oregon has gong for them is their 4th quarter performances where they are outscoring opponents by a large amount (100-14?).  Auburn's defense will have a tough opponent in Oregon but I dont think Arizona is that great of a team to put a match against Oregon.  Auburn's defense is good especially that defensive line.  The interior of the offensive line was getting eaten all game of Alabama by Auburn's.

If Florida didnt let Cam Newton leave, we would have had our Tim Tebow replacement.

The SEC and the Big Ten chewed up their conference members and spit them out. The Big Ten ended up with three teams tied for the conference championship, all with one loss. In the SEC, Alabama, LSU, and Auburn didn't pull any punches with each other and in the end Auburn prevailed. But thats what its like in a real conference. Real conference teams don't care if you are ranked they want to beat you every year. Which is totally unlike the WAC where teams roll over or sniff Boise's butt. Apparently Nevada didn't like the smell and ended Boise's dominance. Not that Boise State deserved a shot. Hey Boise here's a thought..Want respect? Play in a real conference.

Media hyped SEC? Look at the national chamionship games for the last 10 years. SEC, Big 12, PAC 10 and an occasional appearance by the Big 10. This year it will probably be a SEC-PAC 10 National Championship game. The PAC 10 is usually USC and everyone else. In the SEC its Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU...

Most athletes have this "courtesy".   Look at Maurice Clarett, Reggie Bush, Mike Williams, etc.

Athletes in Division 1 schools get special treatment and its their goal to go pro, not to graduate unless you are at certain schools such as Penn St, Stanford, Notre Dame, etc.

Almost every program would be screwed if they actually cracked down on the athletes.  Act as if these athletes have the scores to get into these schools as well.  Tell me all the athletes have the grades coming out of high school to get into such schools as Duke or University of Virginia.
