Hangar doors
« on: November 28, 2010, 12:07:47 PM »
Could you please open the doors on the large green hangars (the ones with the set of six sliding doors on one end). I really miss the old hangars which I often used to practice BFM on / through. I know this was once a very popular sport in the TA now impossible with the smaller openings. There is nothing else in AH to supply for the loss of what was basically a set of very useful goal posts.

+1  Especially with the shrinkage to the VH, as it used to get quite a few planes through it.

Yeah I know you can just squeeze through that one on your side, but the previous versions were much more useful for working on combinations of BFM. Sort of hangar slalom. It was a valuable tool.

Oh yeah and it was a blast too.  I still say the ground crews closed that door a little on me. :furious :rofl

Personally, I like that they are only open a little.  So how about this...  One hanger has it's doors opened, keep the other one the way it is?  Would that work out for you guys?  I occasionally go to offline mode and take the RV-8 though it for kicks. :aok

Oh nrshida, you would have a great time doing the racing league. Unfortunately, I understand that it doesn't work well with your schedule.

However, I believe the CM's usually have the race course set up the day of or before the scheduled event. Check it out in SEA 1, old school hangars set up as an original course every week. :rock

Try checking out the schedule in the A.H.X.A.R.L. section of the bbs.

Edit: You could always pop in while some of us are practicing and give it a go.

The training arena still uses the old style hangers. Either offline or online one can fly through hangers all they want. Many of the Special Event terrains are still using the old style hangers...

Changing the present hangers on the current main arena terrains would require the Terrain guys to remodel the hanger object, and then basically re-build/compile each base group...then they would have to recompile each terrain. Not an entirely trivial effort.

The training arena is the perfect place to practice and created for just such a thing...

It still possible to fly though, just harder. I do it when I'm bored vultching the field.

The TA has the new hangers. It would be nice to have the doors open wider.

All terrains have the new hangers now, with a few exceptions. Arden08 has some custom fields (A52) that did not change when htc updated the hanger graphic. Also a terrain called Racetest, which is the one the AHXARL is currently using has the old style hangers everywhere, but there are only a few fields currently. This terrain can be had by popping into SEA 1 Monday (usually) or Tuesday night. The races are held 10:00 Eastern, 7:00 pacific, if you are interested, and usually posted up on the AHXARL threads    http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/board,278.0.html for practice information.
