Looking for a used IR tracker and foot pedals
« on: December 01, 2010, 07:21:24 AM »
I understand I am getting waxed by pilots who have both IR Trackers and foot pedals. I can't afford new ones and was hopeful that someone might be upgrading and have olds ones that they are willing to part with.

If you have an IR Tracker system and/or foot pedals could you let me know. Possibly we could agree on a price and make something happen.

Thanks!

You might want to check Ebay for both. Also check out SimHQ.com in their buy/trade/sell forum since there is always someone looking to sell Track IR over there. Other than that you might want to post this in the Classified section on here also.

The TrackIR won't make you a better pilot or give you any edge really at all in a fight.  It's much more immersive and frees up some buttons on your stick/throttle. That's about all it does though really, it takes a while to get used to, where you will perform less well for a month or so in fact.  After that it just becomes second nature and you don't even notice it anymore.  It's not any help in a fight at all vs hat views though really.

Rudder pedals however, are a different story.  Get them first if you can.

It does give you a major advantage in keeping track of where the enemy is while in a fight, specially in high g maneuvers when you are blacking out.  but if you're sa is poor then you need to work on it first, then get trakir.  regular views have lots of blind spots.

Maybe it was because I had years of getting used to hat views before I got the trackir then, because I could keep track of bandits better with the hat than I could with the TIR at first.  I knew what view I was on and that helped my mental map of where the bandit was in my head.  I had to relearn that and the angles that enemy planes could shoot me from when I switched to the TIR.

Everyone is different though I suppose.

I still say that rudders are a better investment initially than a TrackIR.
