Bomber Perk Costs
« on: December 01, 2010, 09:58:04 AM »
With the release of the rumored to be heavily perked B29, I think some discussion on bomber perks should be generated. I would recommend not multiplying the perk cost to fly three vice one for any of the perked bombers. It just seems counter intuitive to put the effort into developing an airframe, just to have it sit in the hanger inacesscible to the bulk of the pilots in the game.  A single B29 will draw more attention than a single engined, pilot wounded, low,e less 262. Now the long term players will respond that they have 10k bomber perkies...ok they are one in twenty.  Access to elite planes should not take weeks of work or be exceedingly difficlult (time investment wise) to attain.

Too much speculation. You do not even know how much it will be perked, and what the impact will be. I suggest we wait and then evaluate what's happening.

Yes, it should.

And btw... I restarted my account 2 weeks ago and already have 500 bomber perks. Simply by bombing a few towns, VH's and the occasional odd strat target drop.
It's not that difficult.

Yeah, but the current generation of game-players need instant gratification and don't want to invest even a little time or effort to get the power-ups.   :old:

I would ask you think of someone outside of your particular situation.  I fly on the average of 4-6 hours a week, tops.  Sometimes as little as 3.  Were I retired and able to killl a day playing I certainly could roll the perks in, but time in general is not there for me in bulk.  I can make 50 perks or so a week, if I only fly bombers.  That is not all I am about, I do enjoy GVing and flying fighters.

Also, it is not necessarily the "instant gratification" aspect I am alluding to, I do agree that there should be "earn it" aspect to the perked bombers.  I just think that compunding the perks is not necessary.

I was appalled at the cost of the Mossy bomber, this does not bode well.

A single Ki-67 sortie earned me enough points to fly the Mossie 16.....

I didn't even manage to land it, dropped three 250kg bombs on three town centers and only got single Ta152 kill.

doesn't the 152 have an ENY of 5 or 10?

A single mossie 16 I am sure.

Sure, if eny is to your favor, the obj value of the plane is high, I have landed as many as 22 perkies in a single mission.  But, that mission took me over an hour to fly.  So, if conditions are not ripe, all things being equal, how many hours of flying equal taking a formation of mossie 16s up?  Is the juice worth the squeeze?

Yes, it should.

With that train of thought, you would think that the 51d would have a small perk on it also. :pray

Bomber perks aren't that hard to get, just goto EW or MW and milk run a few fields using a B25 or some Ki67s in LW and you can easily build up some buff perks. You could easily earn 100 perks in a couple hours of flying depending on the ENY.

So, go fly uncontested missions, to earn enough perkies, to fly in the LWMA?  Sounds pretty: 1. Boring 2. Dweebish 3. Should not be necessary in the first place.  Just saying.

Well how you play the game is up to your interpenetration. You sounded concerned about the cost of perk bombers so I gave you some tips on how to earn perks better.

I dogfight in B25Cs all the time and each kill I earn usually nets me 5-10 perks depending on the circumstance, this is just how I play and my perk problem takes care of itself. To me it sounds like you're forcing arbitrary limitations on yourself which is limiting how many perks you earn.

You are correct on my arbitrary decisions. So I went to ew and flew a townpork in 25c. Netted 18 perkies in 45 minutes. I wanted to stab my eye out with a spoon. To return to my original point, compounding the perks for a formation just seems excessive.  I would like to think that if htc goes through the trouble to model a plane that actually having one that does not turn off most except perk farmers would be nice. I have flown the mossies I think twice. Mostly because one will only do so much and is unarmed. Flying a formation just seems too expensive. Again, the juice ain't worth the squeeze.
