Just in case anyone missed it, DirectX 8.1 which comes with the new Windows XP operating system, is officially available for download as an individual component from Microsoft.

An addendum for those interested.

Just ran 3DMark 2001 benchmark testing and DirectX 8.1 showed no difference over DirectX 8.0a

DirectX 8.1 Result = 7009 3D marks
DirectX 8.0a Result = 7008 3D marks
